“Opportunities”
Location: Gracie’s house in LA.
(It’s been one hell of a week for Gracie with all of the travel she’s done. Going from Hawaii to the east coast, back to Hawaii, and now back home. However, that’s the least of her problems. She’s been fighting with the doctors to get medically cleared again, she hates sitting on the sidelines. She’s the type of person who will fight through any injury to get what she wants, even if she has to duct tape a body part. We find Gracie leaning on a railing, looking out towards the pacific ocean. In her left hand, she’s throwing blades of grass in the air one by one….)
Voice: What are you doing?!
(Gracie gets startled for a second before turning around, she saw one of her best friends. A gorgeous-looking girl and these two have been friends since their days in San Diego.)
Gracie: Don’t sneak up on me like that! I never sneak up on you like that, Ana!
(Gracie chuckles before throwing the handful of grass at her friend. Just like Gracie did,Ana moved to LA to go to college, she’s heading into her final year at USC. WIth both of them being busy for most of the year, it’s rare they get to hang out but when they do, they enjoy each other's company.)
Ana:: How have you been? Last I knew you were going to face your dad. How’d that turn out?
Gracie: It was fantastic honestly! I mean I’ve been in big matches before, World title matches, women’s title matches, and main events but that night in Hawaii in front of that crowd, it felt different. I can’t really describe it but when I think about it I still get goosebumps and my hair stands up. Maybe it was something I needed? Something to push my career further. It’s strange that.
Ana:: Why?
Gracie: Well, They see me as a star, that’s why I always get these opportunities that I do, and I am honestly. While everyone is freaking out about their wins or losses or whatever, I don’t care about that. I don’t care if I win or lose. All I care about is working harder than everyone else on this roster and I do. And the management here sees it and they trust me. The landscape of this company is changing, and they’re gonna trust me with that too. I know I’m still young, but I’ve seen everything this business has to offer. I’ve been around this business a lot longer than people think.
Ana:: You work hard to get those opportunities and you don’t care what people think about you either, and watching you achieve those goals makes me so proud. One of these days, I’ll watch you in person! Are you in a match this week? You look like you’re still hurting.
Gracie: I’m still hurting but that’s normal for me, my hip and ribs are still tender yet but I’m not sitting out for another week. I hated sitting out last week, but I get it. I understand. I had a slight concussion and had some blood loss and stitches on my head. The doctors didn’t want to risk it and the company didn’t want to risk it either, It’s fine. But that means I have some pint-up anger to dish out and the opponents this week will be the punching bags, and by the looks of things, it’ll be an easy night.
(Ana looks at her friend with a raised eyebrow, kinda confused on what she means by “an easy night”.)
Ana:: You don’t want to get ahead of yourself there, just because something seems easy doesn’t mean it is. I don’t want you to go out there and embarrass yourself and get beat by a weak wrestler. How would that look on you?
Gracie: You bring up a good point but I’m facing the Landersons, I’m not scared of them, to begin with. My stepmom faced them on the pre-show of Destiny, and she pretty much dominated them….
(Gracie lets out a huge sigh before leaning back on the rail again. She’s thinking of something to say and as she does Ana, her friend doesn’t say anything. She knows when Gracie starts thinking about something, it’s best not to break her train of thought.)
Gracie: Ever since the Landersons came into this company, this place has given them opportunity after opportunity, and both of them have FAILED time and time again. I’ve seen it in their promos, they act like every match is a number one contendership match, and if they win this match they’re going to after X title or Y title. I hate to break it to them, but it doesn’t work that way…
(Gracie rubs her forehead before putting her head down on the rail. She can feel her IQ points dropping by the minute talking about these two. She stands back up again but takes off her sunglasses this time, she places them on her forehead and on the beanie hat that’s covering it.)
Gracie: You know, I’ve been in this business for a long ass time and I’ve seen and I’ve faced some of the stupidest people this industry has had to offer but these 2? These 2 make The Saints family or Enforcer seem smart and talented. I’m sure they don’t even know those people are and thank god for that. The last thing we need is members of the saints family and the Landersons talking to each other, that’ll be like the spiderman pointing meme on Twitter.
Ana:: That bad?
(Gracie slowly turns her head towards her face with a look of disgust on her face.)
Gracie: You don’t have to deal with them on a weekly basis! I try to get my locker room away from those people and I stay away from those people. I don't want their stupid to rub off on me or my daughter….
Ana:: I don’t blame you!
Gracie: I have a tag partner that has the same goal in mind. We both want to eliminate the Landersons one way or another. We want to shove their teeth down their throats because the both of us are tired of looking at them, tired of hearing them, and just tired of them being stupid all of the time. Audrey and I go back, we always haven’t seen eye to eye on stuff, and that’s ok. We’re humans we don’t have to always see eye to eye on things. But the respect has always been there, from her bad days through her good days, it doesn’t matter. We have an easy night ahead of us.
Ana:: Well, I’m going to be watching the show, and I wish you and Audrey good luck!
Gracie: Good luck….I don’t need good luck.
(The scene comes to a close with Ana shaking her head. She always gets a kick out of Gracie saying that, and it’s an inside joke between the two of them with that. Without saying anything they start walking back into the house.)
