PWS Apex wrestler suffers minor injury following Riot. Will be out for up to four weeks; will not participate in Rise to Glory
New York, NY (AP) - The hits just keep coming for Matthew Paul, apparently. Paul 41, the self-proclaimed "King of the Indies" in professional wrestling has been trying to make a name for himself in a more mainstream promotion since returning to the United States following work in various promotions overseas. It looks like that is exactly what is happening too, though the name that he is making for himself is probably not the one that he would have like, even if the rest of the roster is getting more than just a little bit of amusement out of it.
While reportedly having major disagreement backstage with his girlfriend and manager Ginger at Tuesday nights Riot show, Paul became so animated that he fell down in his dressing room and broke his tailbone. Though it is considered a minor injury, doctors have decided after examining him that Paul will not be medically cleared to wrestle at the next show for the promotion, a pay per view entitled Rise to Glory. When asked for a comment about this while recovering in a hotel room in Manhattan, Paul could only scoff and then give the middle finger, while Ginger could be seen smirking in the background. If Paul follows medical advice, he should be out of action only 3 to 4 weeks and might even make it back for the next time Riot is scheduled.
Fans will note that despite his surly demeanor told other people, Paul has been doing very well in the win/loss column since joining PWS Apex in April. In fact, Tuesday night Paul did suffer his first loss in the promotion, to the "Young Hit Wonder" Shawn Young, in a match to determine which one of them would challenge Jonathan Sanders for the Collateral Damage Championship at Rise to Glory. It goes without saying that Paul will not have any match at the event, missing now the first two pay per view events in his PWS Apex career, as Paul was absent from the ring for Destiny in May as well.
