Scene: The Hunger
(OOC NOTE: I am attempting to portray Tanya Reihl to the best of my ability, with the best of intentions and integrity, so sorry if she is anyone specific's creation and I fail haha)
PWSAPEX.COM Exclusive Interview: Who really is Tyson Sykes?
One of the newest PWS Apex superstars Tyson Sykes speaks on making it to PWS Apex, his debut at Crusade, his upcoming match against Miss Puppies, what we can expect to see going forward & more! - conducted by Tanya Reihl, in-depth reporter for PWS Apex
REIHL: Hello Tyson, and thank you for joining me tonight. Frankly I've heard a lot about you since your signing and I'm excited to have a chance to sit down and talk to you.
SYKES: Well... we'll see if you're still staying that when the interview is over considerin' I've already been warned to "keep the language to a minimum" by your editor... but as of now the pleasure is all mine.
REIHL: I've interviewed all kinds Tyson, I think we'll be fine haha. Regardless let's get down to brass tacs. For those who don't know, who exactly is Tyson Sykes, and what brings you to PWS Apex?
SYKES: Oooh gettin' deep already, I dig it. Do you want to know about Tyson Sykes, or "The Ripper"?
REIHL: Well, if they're not the same person, then humor me with both I guess.
SYKES: One is much more interesting than the other sweetheart. Tyson Sykes is a man from New Hampshire that grew up with an anger issue and a love of serial killer documentaries who thought it'd be a good idea to go into law enforcement. When he found out apparently it's not cool to just kick the shit out of the white trash biggot who was beatin' his wife, or the scumbag pedo trying to stake out kids playgrounds, he decided to fall back and focus more on legal ways to beat people up. So abra-cadabra in comes MMA and more importantly, Professional Wrestling. I was already versed in mixed martial arts, a few other forms of combat and blah blah blah, but frankly darlin' my mouth was getting me in trouble even in the MMA world so I decided to pivot to the one that allowed me to not only run my mouth til my face turned blue, but be rewarded for it.
REIHL: Please keep the niceties to a minimum if you wouldn't mind. And so that's when you started training?
SYKES: Noted. My bad apparently. But yes, I met up with a guy who used to do this a lot but sort of got tired of the spotlight, the drama, and the politics of the wrestling world. I was actually a big fan of his, and he was a big fan of watching me in the gym, one thing led to another and we figured out we could help each other out. He had the wrestling knowledge and tenure to pass down, I was more than willing to gain that training and in exchange? He gets to watch the world that he once loved, but that forgot about him, be slowly consumed. That's where "The Ripper" comes in, by the way. The much more interesting one if you ask me. You see I like to separate the two, Tyson & "The Ripper". Otherwise "The Ripper" shows up at home and my girl has to hand me my ass. At home Tyson is just a loud mouth dude, but in that ring "The Ripper" will certainly back up everything Sykes says. Like I said I'm big into the serial killer documentaries. Jack The Ripper is one of the most notorious killers in history, and outside the ring I can admit he was a disgusting human being. But when I get in that ring? I don't see as big of a difference between the two of us. We're both sick, twisted, stop at nothing until we get what we want. Is that a good way to look at a sport career? I'm sure my therapist I saw once would tell you no, but hey its worked for me so far. If it ain't broke, ya know?
REIHL: I mean, I suppose I see what you're saying. I guess. Moving on to your debut in PWS Apex, you said you were surprised they brought you in but you looked incredibly impressive picking up a win in your debut at Crusade. How do you feel about your win and, after being given a shot to debut at a Pay-per-view do you think it's safe to say PWS Apex knew what they were doing when they signed you?
SYKES: I'll start with that first question. Winning my debut match felt great. I've said it before I don't really play off wins and loses, if I technically lose a match I promise you I'm never fully losing a war. I'll go out shooting every single time, but yeah of course it feels great winning in a debut. First impressions are once in a life time, and Mickey Collins was game. Unfortunately for him, I got myself a little chip on my shoulder and I went out there and did exactly what I said I was going to do. I claimed my very first PWS Apex victim. F***... Sorry... But I even got a picture of ol' Mikey to keep in my gym bag, just as a reminder, a souvenir if you will, of my debut. Which I suppose brings me to your second question. Do I think they knew what they got themselves into signing me? Absolutely not. I'm willing to admit maybe someone in the back sees potential in me, but this is me on my best behavior. I'm being kind and considerate right now. So if you think I've been a pric-... Jerk... so far than I feel sorry for you when I actually turn up the heat. Right now I'm biding my time, I'm warming up. I know they're not going to throw me in with the all-stars night one, and that's no dis on Mikey or even Miss Puppies for that matter but we all know there's a comfy little group of guys and gals at the top and they're so content on top that they're not paying attention to the guys and gals like myself who are making a bee line for 'em from the bottom.
REIHL: When you talk about people being "comfortable" who exactly are you referring to? Because you mentioned that in your last promo as well.
SYKES: Nahhh I keep people's names out of my mouth Tanya. They know who they are but I'm not here to stir shit. I'm waiting for the day one of those mother fuckers start using my name first because once they do all bets are off. But for now, I'll be cool. It ain't gonna last long, but I'll give 'em a little while longer to play king or queen before I come and confiscate that throne.
REIHL: Well you did mention Miss Puppies who is your second opponent in PWS Apex who you'll be going one on one with on the next episode of Riot, which is your first episode of Riot. Obviously you're looking to keep your momentum going, but do you think you're underestimating Miss Puppies by admittedly already having your eyes set on the rest of the roster?
(PWS Apex editor note: From here out we've decided to edit some of Tyson Sykes responses due to vulgar practices and refusal to make an attempt to edit himself, to make it more suitable for all readers.)
SYKES: I never underestimate anyone Tanya, and don't put words in my mouth. Does Miss Puppies have the best win loss record from what I've seen in Apex? Absolutely not. Who gives a f***? Again it's not about how many losses you have, it's if you can win when it counts and she's proved she can. She's a f***ing former champion in PWS Tanya, she was a runner up in one of their old Queen of the Ring tournaments. She's frankly one of the toughest people on the roster and I get that, I understand that. What part of that makes me sound like I've underestimated her?
REIHL: Frankly it's refreshing to hear you say that Tyson, I worried you might have a different opinion considering your self-admitted temper and again self-proclaimed controversial attitude toward things. I wasn't sure how you'd react to facing a woman.
SYKES: Well f*** dude it's not like I'm a moron. I've seen PWS enough to know all the chick's on this roster deserve to be here, they're all badass. Trust me half those girls seem to have a bigger sack then some of the dudes I've seen. Sh*t Tanya what did you expect of me? I'm not sexist Tanya, I'm just a d*ck. That being said, I hope you don't think for a God damn second that I'm going to hesitate when I get in that ring. I believe that women can hold their own, so that being said I'm viewing this as just another match. I'm going to cave her chest in, which I understand is going to be an act of God in-and-of itself, and then I'm going to take her f***ing head off. Because that's what I'm here to do Tanya. I'm not here to bake everyone cookies and watch HGTV with 'em, I'm here to crack skulls and last I checked, no matter what you got dangling for genitals, you still got a skull. Again, it's not personal. It could be anyone standing in this ring opposing me it doesn't matter. I'm on a mission and no matter how good you are, I refuse to let anyone stop me now that I've got rollin'. Yes, Miss Puppies is a crazy son of a b*tch, she's a lunatic, she's an alcoholic, she's a lot of things but I'll be f****ed dry if she's not one of the most accomplished and tenured members of this entire roster. I'm not looking past her for a single second. But if she wants to go around calling herself that baddest b*tch on the roster that's fine, I'm just going to make her live up to those words when she steps toe to toe with the most dangerous mother f***er in the wrestling world.
REIHL: That's a good way to look at it I guess. You know considering how much you talk yourself down as a person, in your own words that is, you seem to have a high level of respect for your opponents and the PWS. Regardless what does that mean for you moving forward win lose or draw this week? What's on the horizon for Tyson Sykes?
SYKES: I don't know what you mean by that frankly. Again I know I'm a piece of sh*t, just because I'm not an idiot and I take my matches seriously doesn't mean people are going to like me. I may not be your stereotypical "All the good guys are bad because I'm a bad guy" villain, but trust me because when I get done doing what I want with the PWS? There won't be a soul questioning the kinda man I am. But you're right, I do respect people like Mickey Collins and Miss Puppies because they're doing what I'm doing and that's clawing to get noticed and get a shot to prove we're something more. Where you're wrong however, is me having a respect for PWS. Respect is a huge word. I have an understanding Tanya, and understanding that PWS and PWS Apex has built a brand and a legacy that is huge in the wrestling world. They've had champions from everywhere stars from everywhere, and whether it was R, I, X or whatever letter PWS wanted to tag on at the end, the PWS has been a Titan for years. But I do not respect it. I actually find it sort of a symbol for everything that I hate in professional wrestling. Again maybe I was trained to be bitter, but while the upper echelon play musical chairs to see how many main events they can rack up and how many titles they can trade, I sit and I watch Tanya. I watch as people get married, people have kids, legends return, feuds from years ago reignite. I watch it all Tanya. The world watches it all. My trainer wasn't the only one disappointed and dissatisfied with a stagnant continuous trend of repetition, I'd like to think we all are. I've watched for too long as the world just keeps on turning and the more things change the more they stay the same and in the simplest terms imaginable Tanya... It's left me hungry. Not as in the cliche, but a literal hunger for change, for people to open their eyes and see that if you take a seed that only grows one plant, you can't be surprised when that plant never grows anything new. The only way to get different results is to sever the ties with everything that holds PWS to the PWS of the old. That's why I don't name names Tanya, because it'll be known soon enough who those people are tethering this company to a year gone by. I won't stop until I'm satisfied Tanya, until this absolute hunger... is satisfied. If that means metaphorically... Maybe metaphorically... burning down the PWS Apex and seeing if anything can grow from the ashes? If anything new can sprout from disturbed soil? Then so be it.
So you ask me what's next for Tyson Sykes? Keep your eyes open, because it's never a question of what's next for me. You know exactly what I'll be doing and that's collecting victims. Mickey Collins was number one, Miss Puppies will be number two, and from there? Just count the bodies, 'cuz "The Ripper" will just keep stackin' em.
Sorry if this interview didn't go the way you wanted, didn't paint me the way you wanted Tanya. But look, you're the lead reporter around here, so do me a favor. Make sure this gets posted, and try to make sure as many people see this is possible. Because I don't want you all to feel blind sided when I take over the c***s***ing company. It's not my problem if everyone chooses not to listen. Don't say I never warned you.
Tyson Sykes ended our call before I had the chance to respond. While not the most traditional of interviews and while Tyson seemed to take a lot of my questions and comments out of context; Sykes did provide more information into his unique views on the PWS Apex landscape. So what do you think? Is Sykes all talk and blowing steam like we've seen so many times before? Or is Sykes the real deal he claims to be? Is Sykes one to be watched from here on out? Only time will tell, of course.
Thank you all for reading this Tanya Reihl pwsapex.com Exclusive, and we'll see you next time!
