For the week of March 24, 2019
So, what better place to start than the beginning? This past week we saw the debut of PWS-APEX as they presented Risen, which was a massive success. The show took place in front of a sold out crowd in Orlando, Florida. We saw tons of former PWS personalities make appearances, whether it was in person or through a video. We saw individuals like Josiah Cena and Skylar Mosier, along with their little girl Ariana. We saw Shock and Awe with Candy, who broke the news to the world along with Marcus Cage that they are now husband and wife. Congrats to them both! We got a video message from the world’s friendliest giant, Slappy McGoo, along with Jami Burnett and their daughter Maggie. We saw videos from Chaz Holiday, Breeze Jones, Daz...along with Lenny Jennings. Hell, even Trisha Lee Moore sent her well wishes, which honestly was a welcome surprise since she really fell off the map after going into retirement over five years ago.
We had some more live appearances, like Eddie Lopez, everyone’s favorite hippy Peewee Edwards, Nick Madison and Laura Phoenix, who introduced their brand new baby boy, Aaron, to the world. And of course it wouldn’t be a PWS show without some Russow Shenanigans. Jesse and Dan were the culprits this time. A lot happened in this bit, including a returning Aku-uhh...Mihal, being named head of security. I’d say just go back and watch this segment to see what all happens.
Of course we started the show off with Star Stormz, David Shane, and Manny Martinez in the ring. They made sure to welcome everyone to the show and gave a run down of what we could expect from the night. They talked about crowning a first Collateral Damage (shoutout to PWSi) champion in the coming weeks, and then hit us with a double whammy!
We now know officially that on the night of May 19th, in the Windy City, Chicago, Illinois, t will be the return of the grandeur, the excitement, the legacy, the spectacle that is...Festiny! I am personally incredibly excited to see this show come back after giving us so many memories years ago. I honestly can’t wait to see what memories we will make this year. And I’m sure some of those will be made with the massive main event that was announced for the show. It’s going to be Alexis Makarios, Michael O’Neil, Jennifer Carpenter-Lopez, and Daniel Russow in a fatal four-way to crown the first ever PWS-APEX World Chpion! Thatstch is going to tear the house down.
Aside from those announcements and the special appearances, there were also some great matches on the show. More specifically the matches involving the crowning of the United. Champion. If you can get the chance, I would definitely say go back and watch these matches, each of the three qualifiers and the main event. There was amazing spots and some truly holy shit moments. And it all led to the final with Amelia Emery being crowned as the first PWS-APEX United Champion, as she defeated Cynthia Hellsing and Alexis Makarios in a brutal triple threat ladder match. It was definitely one of, if not THE highlight of the night. Those three ladies put it all on the line, and the fans appreciated every minute of it.
So, in review, my picks for what you should go back and watch, of course the opening segment, the special appearance bits, all the United Title matches, especially the main event...actually, just go back and watch the full show. It was all great! And now we look for the momentum to continue rolling as we head to Hotlanta for Friday Noght Riot on the 29th. It’s already shaping up to be a great show with some great matches slated. Camilla Rodriguez will make her debut against Trina Roberts, Johnny Sins takes on Travis Ryan in a hardcore match, Cynthia Hellsing will battle Miles Kasey to determine the number one contender for the United Chamuonship, and a huge tag-team main event as Daniel Russow and Michael O’Neil take on Jennifer Carpenter-Lopez and Alexis Makarios. We will also have a...celebration? from Amelia Emery, regarding her newly won United Championship. Not really sure what to expect from that. In any case, it’s looking to be another great show, live on TNT.
So to wrap things up here I thought I’d touch on some of the rumors going around. There does seem to be a few, one of the biggest being that a certain PWS Hall of Famer with the last name Russow has his eyes on PWS-APEX. Levi has been VERY vocal on Twitter about the revival, and it looks like he might have a plan to come and join Dan to reek havoc on the brand. Trisha gave a little tease in her video message for a possible return, but I find that one a little less likely. There’s also rumor that, after things settle down with their personal lives, Nick Madison and Laura Phoenix May be brought in to a trainer role, which I think the younger talent could certainly benefit from, especially the ladies. Could you imagine being trained by Audrey James and Laura Phoenix?
Well, I think that just about does it for this edition of the Ryland Report. I’ll see you all next weekend with another installment. Until then, stay safe, and stay frosty.
Ok yeah I’ll work on a better sign off.
