(Keira was used with her handler’s permission)
It’s been a while since Cassie was last on PWS: Apex, in fact the teenaged prodigy last appeared in a Battle Royal for the promotion, a match she had second thoughts on taking part in after it was named in memory of the late promoter behind PWS: Apex! But PWS: Apex haven’t forgotten about Cassie and she was in action this week on Riot as she was taking on Alexander Lyons in singles action! The so called “Feral Prince” shared a lot in common with Cass beyond having similar nicknames, both came from wrestling families and were relatively young with Lyons being the older of the two (25 to Cassie’s 19), can Cassie win?

A lot has happened since the last time I competed for PWS: Apex.
Yeah, I know, that’s not saying much, I was wondering if they even remembered that I had a contract with them at one point, but in that time? Where do I start?
Krystal attacked me, my own flesh and blood attacked me at Blaze of Glory XI, all because I dared to ask why she had formed what was ultimately a doomed alliance with The Saviours turning her back on Ari in the process! That was my last appearance on SCW TV for the time being because I couldn’t even bring myself to be in the same building as Krystal.
Granted, SCW subsequently going on an international tour to some really random locations (Canada, Barbados, two locations in Scotland, Romania, and London to be specific) has helped in that regard, but that same tour would be ending a week on Sunday and it wouldn’t be long before Krystal and the rest of the roster were back stateside, and then I get the latest bombshell that was dropped on me earlier today.
You see, I was raised to believe that I was Krystal’s cousin on her mom’s side,, that wasn’t true and it was something I was about to talk with my trainer about.
“Cassie you know that I’m always available if you want to chat.” Keira reminded me as she lead me into her office at Hero Academy and I closed the door behind me, Keira sat behind her desk and I bit my lip. “I may be angry at Krystal for everything she’s done but I also recognize that you were the first victim of Krystal’s new violent streak, no one is blaming you for that.”
”I know that no matter how Charlotte wants to paint it, I didn’t go out there looking to start a fight with her.” I responded as I shook my head and Keira nodded in understanding. ”Saying that? This is about Krystal, or more specifically my relationship with her, I spent the last eighteen, nineteen years of my life believing that she was my cousin and that I came from her mother’s side of the family, I was told the truth by my parents this morning.” I let out a deep breath as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”Krystal isn’t my cousin, she’s my older sister.”
There was a few moments of silence as I let the statement hang in the air, Keira just sat there in disbelief for a good minute as she processed it before finally answering. “I’m sorry, WHAT?!” Keira yelled out loud enough to make me (and several other students I bet) jump and I glanced at the floor. “I take it they had some proof to go with this claim?”
”Yeah, they showed me my birth certificate, my real surname is Thompson, the same as Krystal’s, it had her bastard dad listed as my birth father and everything.” I sighed as I thought back to earlier that day. ”As for my real mom? She’s dead, another victim of Charlotte’s dad, as far as I know? Krystal doesn’t know, not sure if I want her to know after everything that’s happened.”
“I just have one question, why did they wait so long?” Keira asked pointedly as I shifted my weight. “Even before she attacked you, you were part of Krystal’s life, you were one of her bridesmaids for her wedding to Makayla for crying out loud.”
”I asked the same damn question, ironically it was the fact that she entered my life before they had a chance to tell me that delayed things.” I explained with a deep breath and Keira nodded in understanding. ”Before you ask, Ruth and Erick are still my relatives, Ruth was my mom’s sister and one of my mom’s last acts before she was killed was to leave me in their care! I was still a baby at the time which explains why I have no memory of any of this.” I sighed as I glanced up at my trainer and mentor. ”I’m not gonna lie to you Keira, there’s part of me that’s pissed off at them for waiting until I was almost an adult to tell me! I could’ve handled it when I was younger!”
“No, you wouldn’t have.” Keira responded as she shook her head sadly and I gave her a surprised look. “Cassandra, I understand why your angry and frustrated, this was obviously a huge revelation for you, but revealing something like that when you were, say, sixteen or seventeen? Maybe even younger than that? It would’ve don a lot more emotional damage to you, your parents, even though they aren’t your birth parents, were ultimately just looking out for you.”
”I guess your right Keira, and it definitely explains why my mom’s always been so overprotective of me, to the point of being a soccer mom in the most extreme sense.” I admitted after thinking about it for a minute before glancing over at the door. ”Here’s the real question, what do we do with this information? I hate Krystal for what she did to me and everything she’s done since Blaze of Glory XI but this news will rock her world as much as it did mine.” I added as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”And I know you’ve been scheming on how to get revenge on her for Krystal’s threat at the last Climax Control.”
“For once Cass? I really don’t know.” Keira responded with a shrug and honestly? I wasn’t sure what kind of response I was expecting from her. “In the meantime, you’ve obviously got some anger to work out and we’ve got a case study in how bad an idea it is to let it stew over in Krystal, there’s someone who I want you to meet, a new trainee here at Hero Academy.”
”I did notice a few new faces when I arrived now that you mention it.” I nodded in response as I thought back to the previous hour. ”Who?”
“Her name’s Carrie, she was the girl of Puerta Rican descant training on the Rowing Machine when you came in.” Keira explained and I nodded upon recognizing the girl in question. “She’s only had a couple of sparring matches but she shows the same promise as you and Harper.”
”What next? Are you going to say that she’s the relative on a Puerta Rican Bombshell who I’ve never heard of?” I joked before shaking my head. ”If she’s that good already I can see why you want me to meet her, but why me specifically? Aside from Harper being in England with Jessie obviously.”
“She will get her chance to test herself against Harper, but there is another reason I am asking you.” Keira added before a small smile crept onto her face. “By the way, are you still seeing Becky and Zoey?”
”Yeah, they moved into my house in Reno with me a few weeks back.” I nodded in response before it hit me. ”Wait, are you seriously telling me that this Carrie chick has a crush on me?!”
“Got it in one! And she was so unsubtle about it she made your attempts to remain in the closet look successful.” Keira chuckled and I blushed a furious shade of red, yes, it took me a while to come to terms with the fact that I was gay, and yes, the signs could’ve been seen from space! “In case your wondering? Carrie is bi-sexual, she told me that she had a controlling boyfriend who tried to make her give up on her wrestling dream.”
”Let me guess, she told him to take a hike instead?” I asked and Keira nodded in response, it didn’t matter if it was Carrie’s ex or Ariana’s parents, I never understood people who tried to get others to give up on their dreams just because they weren’t fans of what that dream entailed. ”May he be forever alone! Anyway, we fulfilled the purpose of this meeting, I see no harm in going to meet this girl and maybe even spar with her if there’s time! But I don’t know if it’s progress beyond her crush! Having two girlfriends and my puppy is enough of a handful!”
“Funny you bring up Sandie because Carrie told me that she loves dogs.” Keira responded with a grin and I shook my head, not sure if there was meant to be a double meaning there. “And sooner or later? You will have to choose between Becky, Zoey or even Carrie, you can’t date two girls forever Cass.”
”Yeah, yeah, I hear that all the time from my mom, as in Ruth, not my dead mom.” I sighed as I walked towards the door with Keira. ”Didn’t think I’d be saying THAT this week!”
“I told you before, you get used to the weird sentences in this sport.” Keira chucked before she turned to me. “By the way, what’s your mom’s name? Your birth mother’s that is.”
“Her name was Isabella, mom told me that both she and her sister were off Italian descent, guess that explains why my complexion’s always been a bit darker than the rest of my family now that I think about it.” I responded with a shrug and Keira nodded as she got the idea. ”Charlotte is still related to me, but it’s strictly through marriage which I guess explains her paler complexion, anyway, why do you ask?”
“I was curious, and Isabella is a nice name.” Keira nodded before she went to open the door. “For now? What you told me about your family will stay in this office, if I need to use it against Charlotte? I will, but I will clear it with you well ahead of time.”
“Thanks Keira, I appreciate that.” I responded with a grin before we left the office.

Wasn’t really sure what I was expecting from Carrie.
This wasn’t like when I first sparred with Harper last year and she found new and interesting ways of turning my bad leg into a pretzel, Carrie had clearly wanted to be closer to Keira’s style than mine or even Roxi’s and I’m more inclined to believe the latter because she admitted to admiring Team Hero right before the match.
Granted, I can tell you from personal experience that that describes a good chunk of Hero Academy’s students, myself and Zoey included! But Carrie’s fandom was closer to Ariana’s idolization of them than just being a fan!
In other words? Yeah, girl was a bit giddy at the prospect of being trained by Team Hero and that’s putting it mildly! Still, once the chips were down and we got to sparring? She was a fighter, and I could see why Keira held her in high regard! Sadly Carrie caught me with a blatant imitation of the Seven Sins kick to get the win but after I passed the concussion test (standard procedure for getting kicked in the head and all that) I did overhear Keira having a chat with Carrie about developing her own style rather than imitating her idols.
I’d have to wait before I could get a chance to see her apply that advice though as Hero Academy was closed for the day after the match! Not because I complained but because it had reached closing time.
I was helping Zoey pack her bags into the back of my car when I heard a familiar voice call out to me. “Err, hey Cassie!” I glanced over and saw Carrie walking over, she was around the same age as me but the way she was acting? It was like a younger girl asking her date to prom! “Sorry about the whole kicking you in the head thing back there!”
”Trust me, I’ve had worse.” I responded as I shook my head before putting my bag in the car. ”And its fine! Just gotta remember what Keira told you about developing your own style.”
“Si, I get that, still felt guilty though.” Carrie nodded in agreement before handing me a card with her number on it. “Err, if you want to hang out sometime there’s my number! I’d love to meet Sandie!”
Who gave out their numbers in that fashion theses days?! Honestly! ”And she’d love to meet you, my puppy’s yet to meet a human she hasn’t fallen in love with.” I admitted with a grin bore we went our separate ways, Carrie heading over to the bus stop and me into the driver’s seat. ”So, home or Wendy’s on the way?” I asked Zoey and Becky and then saw the look they were giving me. ”What?”
”What was with that convo with that Carrie girl?” Becky asked and I sighed, off course they’d bring it up. ”She seemed nice enough but that looked more like flirting to me than good natured chatting.”
”Took the words right out of my mouth Becks.” Zoey nodded in agreement as I started to pull out of our space. ”You’re not planning on having a third girlfriend, right Cass? You remember that our house is three bedroom with room for your dog, right?”
”I know! Look, Carrie has a crush on me, Keira told me herself!” I explained to the other girls and they nodded in understanding. ”Personally? I don’t want to mess with what we’ve got going because besides the awesome sex, you guys are fun to bounce wrestling ideas off of.”
”And that card?” Becky asked and I figured it was best to just show her the card rather than hide it. ”Who gives their number out like this? especially to a girl you just met?!”
”Exactly what I was thinking! It’s under the pretence that she wants to meet Sandie, Keira told me she loves dogs so I figured why not? What’s the worst that can happen?” I asked and the girls seemed satisfied with my answer before I drove us back to Reno.

*on camera, promo time*
Miss me?
”G’d PWS: Apex, been a while hasn’t it?” I asked the camera after I turned it on and started recording. ”For one thing, the last time you guys booked me was when I still had a healthy relationship with Krystal Wolfe but that’s a story for another time! To those who missed everyone’s favourite spunky metal chick? Don’t worry, I’m here to stay! To everyone else, I’M BACK BITCHES! And to the assholes who go “who?” like they are some douchebag in a Metal Injection comments section on an article about a band that isn’t mainstream? I’ll send you the cactus that you can go fuck yourself with!”
Nothing’s changed.
”Sorry if you guys thought/hoped I had matured in the time I’ve been away from Apex, even if I was absent up until my birthday in July I’d still only be twenty! Only five years younger than my opponent! Oh right, this week I’m taking on someone else from a wrestling family Alexander Lyons! Look, I’m pretty sure I’ve played the height and weight disadvantage card to death by this point, it goes with the territory when a petite gal like me gets booked against a good chunk of guys in this sport!” I added as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”And yeah, I knew what I was getting into when I decided to sign up for promotions that allow intergender wrestling! But I look forward to it!”
Why?
”Because I’m a competitive gal like that and anyone who doesn’t believe me can just go back over the past year or so of my wrestling career!” I added with a big grin on my face as I leaned forward. ”So Alex, can I call you Alex? Don’t care, I’m out to show the world that I’m still the same old Rebel Princess I was when I first emerged on the scene in wrestling and guess what Apex? That goes double for you guys and Alex will just be my first step!”
Here we go.
”Sure, there aren’t many wrestlers out there with less experience than me, yes Harper I’m looking at you, but that just makes me the ultimate underdog in most situations and this will not be any different!” I added as I brushed some hair over my shoulder with a grin on my face. ”I’ve been kicking ass all over the country since I graduated from Hero Academy and it’s time I started in PWS: Apex!”
It's that simple.
”You won’t know what hit you Alex! I won’t be a five foot three, one hundred- and eighteen-pound mosquito for you to swat away, I’m a serious competitor and if you don’t believe me?” I asked before picking up my puppy Sandie. ”I have my puppy here as my mascot! And she has yet to prove me wrong………….” I trailed off before she started licking my face. ”Lick my makeup off on the other hand? Yeah, she’s done that a lot! And I will defeat you Alex!”
And with that I decided to wrap things up.
”Sorry Alex but your about to lose to a little girl, a little girl who is one hell of a highflyer so if you complain to anyone about losing to a girl? Remember that it’s Cassie Wolfe and that won’t laugh at you!” I added as I leaned forward on my desk after putting Sandie down. ”To all my fans? In a world of fake queens, be a rebel princess! And to Alexander Lyons? You will fall by the wayside as “The Rebel Princess” Cassie Wolfe goes straight to the top and shows why I’m Hungry Like the Wolfe!”
I turned off the camera as the scene fades.

The video package open with alternating shots of lions in the plains of Africa, and wolves in various forests, showing shots of both running, hunting, traveling with their packs, going about the aspects of each of their predatory lives. The voice of Alexander Lyons is heard as he narrates like he’s David Attenbourough.
“The Lion and the wolf, both share some similarities. Predators who sit at the top of their food chains, both known to travel in groups be it a pack or a pride, truly both are vicious in their own right, but only one can reign supreme, only one can be king and when it comes to the lion and the wolf, it is the mighty lion who will win every single time.”
As he comes to an end, we get a final shot of a lion roaring, as the video fades into a shot of Alexander in an unknown shadowy location, with enough light to keep The Feral Prince illuminated for the cameras.
“A Lion versus a wolf...” he began, “Sounds like a battle for the ages doesn’t it? But in reality, everyone knows the lion wins without question. The wolf may have a few tricks of their sleeve, but the lion is the apex predator of apex predators, and this battle of lion and wolf will be no different.”
The confidence on his face shows the lack of respect he has for Cassie Wolfe, which of course is little to none.
“I am a current championship contender and already a proven champion as well.” he remarks, “I am going to be the next United Champion. Now, I’m sure, you feel like if you do the impossible, if you somehow defeat me that you will have earned yourself at least a place in the championship match. But dreams are for suckers, and that’s just not going to happen. I have my own goals, which far surpass your little “still making a name for myself.” goals that you’re currently riding. Like me or not, I am among the elite here in PWS, I am top talent. If you’re going to beat me, it’s going to take a lot more than a spunky attitude and Avril Lavinge cosplay.”
He takes a heavy breath, keeping the determination in his eyes as he continues.
“I just hope you know what you’re getting into.” he continues, “I embarrassed Nadia Lawson last Riot, and I fully intend to tear through everyone in my path until I get to Jack Russow and take the United Championship. Cassie, you are nothing more than a training dummy to me, one for me to rip apart before I get my hands on Jacky Boy.”
He grins arrogantly, running his fingers through his hair, pulling it back from his face.
“This will be your most dangerous test to date, and your only real hope is to survive.” He grinned, “Survive for how long? How long will I decide I want to play with my prey before sinking in the killshot? I guess it all depends on how much fun I’m having, but you? You just hang in there Cassie, maybe the people will admire your guts or something.”
He laughs to himself, taking in another breath.
“I’m going to force you to dig deep Cassie.“ he says, his smile growing slightly more sinister. “Because I don’t care. I don’t care about you Cassie. I care about exactly 4 people in this world, and you are not worthy of the air that ANTITHESIS breathes. “So whatever happens to you in this match, I couldn’t give a fuck about. But you will be made an example of, and like Nadia Lawson before you I will send another message to Jack Russow that he did in fact make a huge mistake when he goaded me into this match. I want him to really witness what’s coming for him so he understands what he’s gotten himself into. We all make bad decisions in life, and offering the championship match to me will be one of Jack Russows. I might even stop by a little later to say hello when Sanders softens him up for me later that night.”
He laughs to himself again.
“But anyway, you get it right Cassie?” he continues, “You’re just out of your league here and the sooner you realize and understand that it will all go much easier for you. Don’t do something stupid Cassie and get yourself hurt, because if you do, if you do decide to poke the lion then you will find out that my name is Alexander Lyons and I am righteous in wrath.”
He glares daggers intently at the camera, as the scene slowly fades to black.
_________
The year was 2003, a young Alexander Lyons sits in front of the TV, with awe in his eyes and a genuine gleeful smile on his face.
"Making his way to the ring, from Cameron North Carolina, weighing in at 223 pounds, he is the Ionic Wrestling Federation WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, ZACHARY LYOOOOOOOOOOONSSSSSSSS!!!!"
Young Alex claps, watching his father who was the IWF World Champion at the time, make his way to the ring to defend his championship, he viewing party was short lived as his mother entered the room, turning off the TV immediately.
“I told you, not to watch that stuff.” she said bluntly, as her gaze turned to her son, “It’ll only rot your brain.”
“But I wanna watch dad wrestle!” Alex insisted.
“That man may be your dad Al.” his mom told him, “But he’s not your father. He’s done nothing to take care of us, and only cares about himself and his fame. You would do best to forget about him and the rest of his family, because they don’t care about us."
“But I wanna watch!!!” Alex insisted, “It’s not fair!!”
“I am your mother Alex. I know what’s best for you.” she continued, “The Lyons family are bad people, and you would do best to forget about them like they have with us”
“But Mom I…” Young Alex began
“But nothing.” his mother interrupted, “NO WRESTLING IN THIS HOUSE.”
Young Alex furrowed a brow, scoffed and stomped off to this room, the sound of a door slamming can be heard echoing down the hallway of the apartment building, all he wanted was to watch his father on the TV, but his mom was always there to stop him every time he tried.
__________
Present day Alexander Lyons looks across the table at his mother, who for her part looks back on him with the eyes of a proud, loving mother.
“I know I never wanted you to go this path Al, but I am proud of you, you know.” she tells him.
“I just want the truth mother, all of it.” he replied, “Dad says that he did try to reach out to me growing up, but you refused to let him see or talk to me.”
“I just wanted to keep you safe…” she explained
“By keeping my father from me?” Alex replied, “What sense does that make?”
“Look, I was young.” she explained, “My friends, they took me to the wrestling show. They were all fans. Your dad wrestled that night, I think he defeated some guy named Jason, anyway after the show we all went to this bar and some of the talent was there. Your father approached me, and we got to talking and well one thing led to another.”
“But why keep him from me?” Alex asked again
“You know that old song, Papa was a rolling stone…” she explained “A few days later, your dad was halfway across the country in a different city, with a different girl. Rinse, and repeat. He was a charmer, your father was, and the ladies loved him. He had a different one in each city and wasn’t afraid to use his fame to manipulate them. I just thought it best to keep you away from all that.”
“It still doesn’t give you the right.” Alex replied.
“I know, and maybe part of me deep down knew that, so I allowed you to keep his name.” she continued, “But I’m sorry…I should have allowed contact.”
“I suppose it doesn’t matter anymore.” Alex said, “I’m with the Lyons Den now and with dad running the place my spot is secure. My cousins are being forced to wait for their company to get it’s shit together, and Cleo decided to take herself a hiatus.”
“Be careful of those cousins of yours.” his mom noted.
“Vincent and Victoria don’t concern me.” Alex replied, “They know better than to try and bring their holier than thou woke attitude around me, and Eddie knows I’ll slap him in the mouth if he brings that “I’m the one who fights with honor” attitude around me. No, this isn’t their story, their story can be told elsewhere. With Cleo Phillips gone for the time being, PWS is all mine, and when I bring back the United Championship that Cleo lost, I’ll bring it back to the Lyons Den and I will show my cousins, I’ll show Cleo Phillips and I’ll show Keevee Kaiser that I am the one they should have backed all along.”
“You’ll get no argument from me.” his mom nodded.
“And I’ll show you mother.” he glared “That trying to keep me from what I was born to do was a mistake, keeping me from my father was a mistake. I am a LYONS, I intend to carry on the legacy my father and my uncles started and I will be the best and most ferocious of them all.”
Alex smiles, and stands to kiss his mother on the cheek.
“Love you mother.” he says, before taking his leave from the kitchen.
_________
Back in North Carolina, Alexander Lyons sits on one of the benches, taking a breather after a workout when head trainer Keevee Kaiser approaches him, much to Alex’s disdain.
“What do you want?” Alex muttered.
“I know you don’t like me.” said Kaiser, “But you’re still one of my talents and I just want to get a sense of where your head is at.”
“Where my head is at?” Alex replied, annoyed in tone, “Now you want to care? Now that Cleo Phillips is on a LOA, and the twins are in limbo again, NOW you want to try and show me support?”
“Alex, we’ve been over this, it’s not like that.” said Kaiser.
“Everything I’ve done to get to where I am now, I did it myself.” Alex replied, standing up to face Kaiser, “You just jump from prospect to prospect when you get bored with one. Vincent was a star in HWL, but then you wanted to give Victoria a chance, but she kept getting stuck in limbo between different companies, and then Cleo started to take off and you threw all your stock into her. But me? I was never supposed to be the one was I? You wanted it to be Cleo, you wanted it to be one of the twins, but you never wanted it to be me.”
“Alex..” Kaiser tried to get a word in but Alex kept going
“It wasn’t just you. It was my own family as well. I’m just the bastard nobody wanted. I had to earn my place here, and now that MY hard work is paying off, you want to come in and reap the benefits.” Alex went on
“Maybe I’ll just come back another time…” Kaiser said taking a step back.
“Don’t waste your breath.” said Alex, “I know who supports me, who really supports me. Jonathan Sanders is the one, he gave me a family that truly cares and HE is the one who is allowed to give me advice.”
“He’s only using you like he did Tyson Sykes.” Kaiser noted
“Tyson betrayed us.” Alex scowled, “We had a good thing going as a team but it wasn’t good enough for him. He wants to be a champion on his own but he never will be, meanwhile I will go on, and achieve what my former partner desires and become a singles champion on my own, and once again prove that I was the star of the team and I was the one who carried ALL the weight, now if you’ll excuse me I’ve got some training to do to.”
Alex pushes past his trainer, and makes his way to start training on the speed bags.
“You need to learn to channel that anger Alex, because it can truly be your most dangerous weapon if you do..” Kaiser said to himself as Alex walked off.
