Howell Wars
Episode V
Return of the Sane Guy
Wednesday July 13, 2022. New York-Presbyterian Columbia University. Dylan Howell’s Room. Off-Camera
It is a strange time to say the least in PWS. Freshly minted World Champion Vacant
is getting more nervous heading into Rise to Glory as there is a large story which has Vacant’s belt being contested over in a match with resident psychic “Miss” Cleo Phillips taking on the new flavor of the month Alexandra Calaway. It’s anyone's guess who is going to walk out of the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. with the biggest prize in our industry come July 26, but the odds are not looking too hot for Vacant. Sad, because nobody can actually recall that match where Vacant won the World Championship, something that seems to happen with alarming regularity for Vacant’s championship reigns.
Rise to Glory has a ton of promise to be a huge deal however, largely because of the fact that looking up and down the card there is not a Mike Hawk sighting anywhere. While this is something that should bring the fans immense pleasure, something peculiar feels like that his absence will somehow be ruined before the end of the night.
And then you have the curious case of our superhero Dylan Howell. Yes that same Dylan Howell who in his past has been known to fill wrestling rings with kitty litter for example or attempts at breastfeeding inanimate objects on live wrestling television. So the previous Riot was not the first time Dylan’s judgment has been called into question. No, that has been a regular thing throughout Dylan’s career.
This is the first time that Dylan had done something to somebody else that caused them to have possible serious harm by the end of the night.
Are you wondering what dastardly deed our hero could have done? That will be discussed a little later as I have been a narrator for quite some time and I know that to give away the most important parts of a RP on the first page is simply inconceivable! You will be made aware however that the end result of Dylan’s actions somehow landed him with a new tag team partner in Jennifer Makarios-Lopez.
That is of course new to Dylan in PWS as he has never had a tag team partner in this promotion. Though Dylan does have a laundry list of partners both tag team and otherwise. The end result of these partnerships has definitely been mixed and his teaming with Jennifer has gotten off on a rather inauspicious start given that Dylan is in the hospital thanks to what he did.
Just to start with, Dylan hadn't even spoken to anyone since coming to the hospital. He isn't in a coma, he just isn't speaking to anyone because he doesn't like the restraints that have him strapped to his bed. That's why even before he entered Dylan's room, Dr. Ferguson Mortimer got a feeling in the pit of his stomach that told him that might be a case like never before. As he looks over Dylan carefully, Dr. Mortimer decides to have a discussion with his new patient. “Good morning Mr. Howell. My name is Dr. Mortimer. How are you feeling this morning?” Dr. Mortimer waits for some acknowledgment from Dylan who won’t even look at him, instead choosing to stare at the wall and looking increasingly angry by the second. Ever the optimist though, Dr. Mortimer tries again.
“Alright Mr. Howell, I need you to understand that your care here is a collaborative effort between you and I. This works the best when we are communicating with one another so when I ask you a question I need you to respond, alright?”
“Dylan won’t talk to you right now, he won’t talk to anyone at this point because he is angry.” Spinning around on his heels, Dr. Mortimer didn’t even realize that there was another person in the room who was sitting at the end of Dylan’s bed.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there. Are you related to my patient Mr. Howell somehow? Because he is not exactly forthcoming right now, and I need answers to my questions before I can decide how to treat him going forward. At this point with him not responding to me, I’m considering a Psych evaluation.”
Working in various medical facilities in her life, Sam didn’t mean to laugh because she knows how serious the situation is, but yet she can’t help it. This perplexes Dr. Mortimer even more. “I didn’t mean to be funny, but apparently I am?”
“I’m sorry Doctor. Of course you need someone that will answer your questions. My name is Samantha Alexis and I was laughing because you mentioned a Psych eval and I actually met Dylan originally as his psychiatrist.”
Immediately upon hearing this, Dr. Mortimer’s ears perk up, realizing that he might have someone who can shed some light on the case of Dylan Howell. “Well it’s nice to meet you Dr. Alexis, though I admit that it’s somewhat odd that a patient would come into the hospital with his psychiatrist.”
“No, I met Dylan originally as his psychiatrist. I also fell in love with him and gave up my practice to be with him. So while I’m no longer a practicing psychiatrist, I can tell you that psychologically, Dylan is a very sick man, although if you can get him to admit that without antipsychotics, you would be the first.”
Taking a step back as he wasn’t expected to receive so much information, Dr. Mortimer regards Sam curiously.
“So Mr. Howell was your patient and you fell in love with him and decided to give up your practice rather than giving up….Mr. Howell?”
Looking back at Dylan with just the slightest bit of contempt, Sam nonetheless nods in response. “Yes, I understand your confusion, it confuses me too at times. I spent a lot of time and a lot of money to be a psychiatrist. I certainly never expected to meet and fall in love with such a stubborn and obstinate man, yet here we are, expectations be damned.” Realizing now what he had said, Dr. Mortimer is very apologetic toward Sam, despite the fact that Sam doesn’t seem upset with him, though Dylan growls without turning away from the wall. Hearing this, Sam actually starts to smile albeit sarcastically. “Well would you look at that Doctor, it seems as though you might be getting through to your patient after all.”
“Please accept my apology for my behavior though. Love might be the greatest mystery in the world…”
Sam scoffs as she interrupts Dr. Mortimer. “Oh you and I would definitely agree on that. Love is certainly a mystery.”
Dr. Mortimer nods, seeming to understand Sam’s frustration while still being appalled by the things that he said previously. “Still far be it from me to comment on you and Mr. Howell’s situation. There is no excuse for this and from now on anything I have to say will be strictly professional going forward.” Looking at Dylan with that slight bit of contempt again, Sam just nods to what Dr. Mortimer said while she shrugged as well.
“Suit yourself Doctor. Just know that personally, you have done nothing to offend me. And if you have offended your patient? He needs to speak up like an adult and say something so that the transgression can be discussed.
“Very well, Mrs. Howell…”
“Oh hell no, I’m NOT married to him.”
“Oh I do apologize for assuming that the two of you were married. How long have you and Mr. Howell been in love with each other if I can ask? Because I need someone to talk with about medication…”
“I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE ANY MEDICATION DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME, DAMN IT TO HELL!!”
Dr. Mortimer steps back almost out of the room, terrified, but Sam just giggles sarcastically one more time. “And there he is! Does somebody want to be a big boy now and use his inside voice? Dr. Mortimer, I would like to introduce you to your patient Dylan Howell. I believe that you now understand why whether he likes it or not, I suggested when we came in last night that he be restrained. The medical staff of any hospital certainly should not be subjected to verbal abuse like that either, but at least they are safe from any physical abuse from him.”
Now gotten over the shock of being yelled at Dylan, Dr. Mortimer looks at his patient walking back toward him and is much more firm now. “Mr. Howell I need to discuss the situation with medication with someone whether you like this or not. Now if you are not able to discuss this like a rational person, perhaps I should discuss this with Ms. Alexis instead?” Now Dylan is back to staring at the wall angrily and saying nothing and Sam has had enough.
“Dr. Mortimer, if Dylan is not going to discuss this with you, at least not like an adult and I doubt that he is, I’m listed as a HIPAA contact as well as being a previous doctor that has had contact with him professionally. So if you would like, we can step outside and I’ll tell you what it is that you need to know.”
Staring down for a moment almost in hope that what Sam just said will cause something to stir and Dylan will decide to start talking, Dr. Mortimer finally gives up and looks at her shaking his head. “While I never want to leave my patients out of discussions concerning their treatment, I’m afraid that Mr. Howell is leaving me with no alternative. Let’s step out into the hall please.”
Sam goes to step into the hall with Dr. Mortimer and as she does, Dylan yells at her on the way out the door. “I KNOW THAT YOU ARE GOING AWAY TO TALK ABOUT ME DEVIL WOMAN, AND THERE IS NO WAY THAT I’M GOING TO TAKE THOSE MEDS THAT YOU’RE PUSHING! MEDS ARE DRUGS! DRUGS ARE BAD! JUST SAY NO, DAMN IT!” Dr. Mortimer is still shocked by Dylan’s boorish behavior, shaking his head as he steps out of the room, but Sam is used to this, even giving Dylan a kiss on the forehead on her way out while smiling.
“Of course we are going outside to talk about you, no shit sherlock. We can’t do that here right now because you won’t act your age. And babe, I love you so you will end up back on your medication if you know what is good for you.”
“OH NO I WILL NOT!!”
“Bet me?”
Before Dylan can launch into another verbal tirade in her direction, Sam quickly steps out of the room and to the hall where Dr. Mortimer is waiting outside looking very concerned. “How long has that been going on between the two of you Ms. Alexis?”
“Yeah I’m sorry that you had to see that. It has happened maybe three or four times in the four and a half years that we have been together.”
“Well if you ever feel like you are in any danger, you can come up here to the hospital and we have resources that abused women can use to assist them in getting out of their situation.”
Though she tries hard to contain herself knowing that she is in a hospital setting and she is trying not to make too much noise, Sam can’t help herself from some loud laughing. “I understand your concern being a medical professional, but I cannot tell how safe I am with Dylan. Despite what you just saw, Dylan would never, ever hurt me. He is just upset because he hasn’t been taking his medication for sometime and now that I realize that? He knows it is only a matter of time before I find a way to make sure that he starts taking it again.” The entire time that Sam was explaining this situation, Dr. Mortimer has been taking notes, not interrupting her, while I silently trying to understand why another abused woman can't or won’t realize how serious her situation could become.
“I understand what you are saying and I certainly respect that, but just please remember if things ever change, our doors are always open to help you in any way.
“Absolutely, and I thank you doctor. Also before you ask, I also have Dylan’s power of attorney which means I am able to have him put in restraints so he doesn’t hurt himself or someone else like he could have last night. Now there were other things that you wanted to discuss with me regarding Dylan’s medication, were there not?
Looking up from taking notes again as he is finally getting some ideas of what he might be in for as Dylan’s physician, Dr. Mortimer keeps things professional. He already made his pitched to Ms. Alexis to get some help and she turned it down. Dr. Mortimer is still concerned, but his hands are tied right now nonetheless. “I do understand that Mr. Howell is a professional wrestler, and he was transported from the PWS arena last night after an incident with fire, correct? Sam rolls her eyes remembering back to last night, but answers the doctor’s question.
“That is correct, yes. Dylan was taking part in a match called a battle royal. Are you familiar with this doctor?”
“I’m not at all familiar with anything to do professional wrestling Ms. Alexis.”
“Alright. So in a battle royal, everyone starts in the ring, and a wrestler is eliminated when they are thrown over the top rope and both feet touch the floor. The last person left in the ring is declared the winner.”
“I see, please continue.”
“Ok, so Dylan last night because he hadn’t taken his antipsychotic medication in sometime because he says it makes him feel like he is not himself decided that he would take another competitor out to the ring and hurl both himself and the other competitor off of the ring apron and through a flaming table at ringside.”
Dr. Mortimer goes wide-eyed clearly not being able to understand why someone would do this to other people or themselves. “But I thought that you said that the object of the match was to be the last person left in the ring.”
“Oh it is.”
“So excuse me for asking this then Ms. Alexis, but why would he do that? Nevermind the fact that he could hurt someone else severely, he eliminated himself from the match!”
“Exactly, and that never happens if Dylan is taking his medication.”
“You said it was an antipsychotic, what medication is Mr. Howell supposed to be on? Because I assume that you were the prescribing physician, at least initially.”
“I was and Dylan was on Seroquel because he has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Bi-polar disorder.”
Dr. Mortimer shakes his head, now realizing what both Sam and Dylan for that matter have to deal with on a daily basis. “I can imagine that is not any type of fun to deal with but I commend you for it, Ms. Alexis.”
“No, it is not, but do you realize how scared Dylan must feel sometimes. If he takes his medication he feels sedated but if he doesn’t….”
“....the man is literally out of his mind. It is a scary situation to be sure, and I can’t help but feel for him now too when he says that the medication makes him feel like he is not himself.”
“I love that man doctor, so you can imagine how I feel basically forcing him to take his medication. But when the alternative is you hurl yourself and someone else through a flaming table.” While talking with Dr. Mortimer, Sam gets a smile on her face. “I have an idea, I know how I am going to get Dylan to take his medication.”
“How can I help?”
“Have you ever told a little white lie if it were to help a patient who desperately needed it?”
“Officially I can’t answer that. Unofficially, what physician hasn’t?”
“Well, maybe this is one of those times, or maybe it is not.”
Before long, Dr. Mortimer makes sure that Dylan can see from his room that he is on his phone. Several minutes pass until Sam and the good doctor reenter the room. “So babe, Dr. Mortimer just had a nice conversation on the phone with a person in the hire ups at PWS.”
Dylan looks very nervous. “Why?”
“Because you are right; you don’t have to take your medication again.”
“Thank you!”
“However, you will not be permitted to get into the ring again until you have resumed taking your medication again.”
Looking back and forth between the other two people in the room, Dylan eyes settle on Sam as he sounds betrayed. “You did this, I know you did this.”
And now Sam starts to tear up while taking Dylan’s hand. “Don’t you understand I had to baby? You jumped through a flaming table for God’s sake.”
“Well played. I will do what needs to be done in order to keep wrestling.”
Sunday, July 24, 2022. On Camera.
I'm not a good person.
Granted, if I were one of the right wing religious nuts I’d tell all of you that there are no good people on this earth and that is why we need Jesus Christ to lead us all to salvation. Thankfully, I’m not a right wing religious nut and this is the right time or place to discuss that even if I were.
I’m definitely a nut though and not a good person. Maybe you wouldn’t know that without me telling all of you that. People cheer me at the PWS Arena wildly like I’m a good person, but then how do you claim to be a good person and do what I did in the Battle Royal during the last Riot? Yes, the people were incredibly loud for what I did that night but that didn’t mean that it was good.
I can tell right now that most of you will fight me on this, but you know who won’t? Jennifer Makarios-Lopez that’s who. Jennifer assuredly is very upset with me for what I did, because that was absolutely crazy. The thing about it is that I really can’t tell you why I did what I did. I know, that doesn’t make any sense and I seriously doubt Jennifer believes me when I say that. I can tell because I tried to call her at home to apologize this week while I was still in the hospital.
Yes, to my amazement her number was still listed in this day and age and I thought that this might be a good omen for me. So like any guy who owes a girl an apology for the things that he has done to her, I called her repeatedly all week while I was in the hospital, but she wouldn’t pick up. After I got out of the hospital I considered continuing trying to call her but the more I thought about it I realized that an apology just wasn’t going to be enough. An apology after all is just words, and after what I did to Jennifer to hell with an apology, I have decided she deserves more than an apology, more than just words.
After all, if you jumped off a ring apron through a flaming table causing both of you to be eliminated from a battle royal you would have to do something pretty big to make that up to a woman right?
That is exactly what I did last Riot to Jennifer and myself. Yeah, the crowd was going crazy for the crazy guy but that is still no excuse! I might have cost Jennifer an opportunity to win the PWS Championship. Hell, I might have cost myself an opportunity at the PWS Championship. The most important thing though is how I put myself and especially Jennifer in real danger by such reckless behavior. That is unacceptable to me, and why the crazy guy can’t be allowed in the ring, or controlling my life any longer.
Because when I’m not crazy, I’m capable of making better decisions. Jennifer is going to realize this just like everyone else is going to realize this when I make up for my poor decision in the battle royal and help Jennifer and I win the PWS Tag Team Championships at Rise to Glory. That’s right, someone who makes the decisions here decided for whatever reason that Jennifer and I should team up, and challenge Antithesis!
Oh no, I’m not a good person like I said. A good person would have never done what I did to Jennifer on Riot. Despite being a bad person overall, I’m a damn good wrestler and at Rise to Glory? I plan to prove it to everyone! Jennifer, we have never teamed together before and you don’t seem to want to talk to me at all either, but that is fine with me. I won several tag team championships in my career and I know what it takes to be successful as a tag team wrestler, in fact many people would say that is my specialty. Don’t worry if you don’t want to talk to me either Jennifer. Some might say that they would question our chemistry because of that but me? I won the World Tag Team Championship in another promotion with my ex-wife Jesse twice and we were hardly ever talking. That’s one of the big reasons why she is my ex-wife, but despite the less than desirable lines of communication we still made a great team inside the ring, the way that I believe you and I could too, Jennifer.
So Alexander Lyons and Tyson Sykes, all I can say is you had better be ready because I’m looking for a fight and I’m looking for Jennifer and I to leave with those belts you two have right now wrapped around our waists. Tyson, with your abrasive style of behavior, in other circumstances you and I might very well be friends. Neither one of us can stand authority and I have been known to have a foul mouth just like you. I have also been around the block a few times, going from one promotion to another, although one thing that has never been said about me Tyson is that I am a quitter.
What about you, Tyson? Has anyone ever said that they think you are a quitter? Now normally I don’t deal with rumors because they are nasty things like skunks or bitter beer, but I did hear one rumor concerning you. Apparently, if you and your partner lose against Jennifer and I you might decide to pack your bags and quit on PWS.
While I could understand why you might feel that way being that you have such a hard time making friends anyway, but I certainly hope that is one nasty rumor that isn’t true. I would like to think better of you than that, Tyson. When Jennifer and I win at Rise to Glory and you see the two of us holding high the belts that used to be yours and your partner’s inside of the ring I want that vision to light a fire inside of you! The last thing I would want is for you to quit, because you want to know something Tyson? You are better than that!
So, don’t be a quitter Tyson. Prove me right, prove that you are better than that! Prove that you are a partner that Alexander Lyons can rely on to try and get the Tag Team Titles back! I know that you can do it Tyson, but will you? That remains to be seen though the event is fast approaching.
And what about you Alexander? Because you have a little bit of a different situation than your partner Tyson, but it’s certainly something that I can relate to. You come from a wrestling family, or at least your family comes from a wrestling background even if they don’t want much to do with you. Again though this is something to which I can relate. My last name is Howell, but I can honestly say that I have never meant the sperm donor who I’m named for.
So, you would think that my Mom would try to do better for both her and I in the “man” and “father” department when she finally decided to wed, but sadly that was not the case. My Step-Dad, the man who raised me, was a man by the name of Remington Street. Let me tell you though Alexander, bastard doesn’t even begin to describe Remington. I still have multiple scars all over the back of my ass if you don’t believe me. It’s why I left home at 15 years old to start in professional wrestling. One thing that Remington did leave me with however, was his name, because even though my name is Howell, I am part of the Street Legacy in wrestling.
Trinity Street. Kennedy Street. Regan Street. The first two are my cousins and the last is my younger half-sister. All three of them are 3-time World Champions, and that is just the start of the Streets and what they mean to this industry, and they have kind of cast me out away from my family because they heard somewhere that I might be insane if you can imagine that! So, when I heard that you have been trying to build the Lyons brand in PWS after being outcast from a wrestling family, I became intrigued. This does sound a lot like the same thing that I had been doing.
Only you are further along than I am in staking your claim because you are one half of the current tag team champions with the aforementioned, Tyson the foulmouthed.
Now what is going to happen to you after Jennifer and I take those titles from you is anyone’s guess though. Do you and Tyson have the resiliency to go with your talent that led to you winning the titles in the first place and try to chase Jennifer and I down, trying to reclaim your lost glory? That would be the most exhilarating prospect would you agree?
Because I meant it moments ago when I called both of you talented, Tyson and Alexander. The power behind the striking and kicking from both of you is a thing of beauty and why I’m preparing for a war in our nation’s capital Tuesday night. You guys are going to want to do the same though because Jennifer and I? We are talented too. We have held titles before in wrestling. In fact, we have both been World Tag Team Champions before, not together though that is going to change in two night’s time.
Tyson and Alexander, Antithesis, you boys are good, I’ll give you that. You have a track record that backs that up, and I have all of the respect in the world for that. But Jennifer and I are good in our own right too, but I believe you two are underestimating us because of the fact that nobody takes me seriously in PWS because of my past bizarre behavior. When you have two gifted athletes like Jennifer and I however with all of our experience, that would be a big mistake.
Add in the fact that I’m already viewing this match as an opportunity to make up for a huge mistake I made to my partner?
Those titles are going to find new homes Tuesday night! I will stop at nothing, and I do mean NOTHING, to make that happen!
