She just wanted to be a fighting champion, one that stood against any opponent and didn’t back down. One that understood that you can grow, even in loss. She learned that lesson way back when losing the Collateral Damage championship faster than she had won it. Months later, Cleo Phillips finds herself a better wrestler, a better champion and a better person. The former criminal now speaks to help troubled youth make better decisions and helps in the fight for prison reform.
In her short career in PWS, she’s quickly risen to become one of the top stars in the whole company, her United Championship the only thing keeping her from getting a chance at the Elimination Chamber match itself. Like anyone she would love a chance at the World Championship, especially since she holds a victory over the current world champion Sierra Williams. That will come for her in due time, she’s not just going to hand over the United Championship for an opportunity like Mike Hawk did, such an act isn’t even possible for the United Championship that she’s aware of. Someone is just going to have to beat her, and next in line to try and take the United Championship from her is Alexis Makarios.
But that’s NOT who’s next in line to square off with the United Champion, as her and Alexis have created a friendly wager, and given each other an opponent. Cleo put Alexis against World Champion Sierra Williams, and Alexis chose a rising star for Cleo in Kallie Reznik. The challenge to see who can pick up the victory faster. The idea does show off the ego of both ladies somewhat, as they didn’t offer any real prize for the winner, like choosing the stipulation for their match, nor did they seem to think about another possibility..
“What happens if you lose?” Keevee Kaiser questioned Cleo, the veteran trainer wanted to be sure his top student wasn’t slipping back into some of her old ways and needed to be sure she had her ego in check, pot calling the kettle black for anyone who followed most of Kaiser’s career but as a husband and father now, he like Cleo had reformed his old arrogant ways.
Cleo blinked her eyes a few times and sighed, “Damn, I hadn’t thought of that. I got so swept up in the moment with Alexis, I guess we didn’t take what happens if we lose into the equation.”
“Well, you didn’t offer anything to the winner of the beat the clock challenge either, so the whole thing is a little confusing to me. I just don’t want you getting overconfident, because overconfidence will always come back to bite you. “ Kaiser told her.
“What should I do about it then?” asked Cleo, looking to her trainer for advice.
“That’s up to you to figure out.” Kaiser told her, “You issued the challenge, not me. I’m here to help you, but it’s truly all up to you in the end.”
Cleo nodded, Kaiser was right of course. She would figure something out for Kallie should The Wolfcub of Wolfslair get the biggest win of her young career.
“Kallie Reznik is going to be a star in the future of PWS. She trains with Wolfslair, where my good friend Aaron Asphyxia just got hired as a consultant, so I know she’s getting trained among the best.” Kaiser said, “She’s dating Aiden Reynolds who just taught Alex a lesson in humility…”
“...Alex…” Cleo muttered, she hated that she had to train alongside that jackass now, all because his dad owned the place.
“Don’t worry about Alex.” Kaiser said, “I’ll deal with him later. Right now it’s about you. Kallie is a star of the future, but you are a star right NOW. If Kallie wants to be at the top, then you do what do you best and make her earn her way there. She may be the Wolfcub of Wolfslair, but you are The Black Panther of The Lyons Den, and it’s going to be you who truly tests Kallie’s limits."
“Yeah, yeah I gotchu.” Cleo nodded, feeling confident.
“And if Kallie is any real competitor, and I’m certain she is given the circles she’s a part of. She would want nothing more than the best from you. I doubt she’s stupid, she knows what a victory over you means here and is going to do everything she can to get one. You need to remind her that while her time will come, that time just isn’t now.” Kaiser told Cleo.
The words sunk into Cleo’s brain, she knew Kallie was one of the brightest new stars, and even considered a rematch with Alexis for her. Now though, she was going to be able to do what Alexis couldn’t.
Beat Kallie Reznik.
“You ain’t wrong. Kallie is going to want a fight, and when we get to Dallas, I’m going to give her one.” Cleo said with swag and confidence.
Cleo and Kaiser fist bumped, she was as ready as she was ever going to be and win or lose, Kaiser was always going to be proud of her, proud of the one that wasn’t supposed to make it and grew higher than he imagined she would. With a career not much older than Kallies, Cleo too still had quite a future ahead of her and in many ways her journey was still just beginning as well.

The current PWS tour has brought The United Champion to Dallas,Texas. The furthest from home she's ever been. Some time was spent sightseeing with Z-Money, some time was spent speaking to misguided youth in the South Dallas area. Cameraman Anthony focuses the camera, as Cleo comes into view leaning back against a graffiti covered wall, in her usual fare of baggy clothes, and shades. This week, it’s a Dallas Cowboys cap of course. Alongside her as always is Z-Money, dressed in similar urban fashion and donning a cowboy hat.
“Did you really need to wear the hat?” asked Cleo
“C’mon, don’t you like it?” Z-Money said with a childish grin, “Besides I could say some…things, about yours.”
“Not a Cowboys fan Z?” grinned Cleo.
“Hell nah, no disrespect to Cowboys fans or anything but I’m loyal to my Jets.” Z replied.
“I guess that’s something.” Cleo shrugged, she wasn’t much into football, for her it was just more about the style, the attire that she felt comfortable in.
“Don’t worry about me, you gotta talk to them.” Z pointed at the currently recording camera.
Cleo looked at the camera, and nodded. Honestly, Z did look sort of cool in the hat in a strange sort of way, she was just giving him a hard time. He was always someone she could count on for a laugh, and she was truly glad he was along for the ride.
“Kallie Reznik.” she began. “I like you. I do. You’re full of fire, heart and desire. You have that drive, the determination to be the best. That is exactly what I look for in an opponent, and that is why I am about to make you this offer.”
She clears her throat, and readjusts the championship on her shoulder.
“We all have a bit of an ego, let’s be real.” she said with a smile, “But for me I can’t help but feel mine showed a little too much in my challenge to Alexis. Not taking into account what would happen if we were to lose to our opponents, just feels…off to me. So my offer to you Kallie is, should you beat me at Riot, then you will get the next United Championship match if get past Alexis.”
Cleo pauses for a moment, to make sure her words sink into the ears of the viewer.
“That’s IF you beat me though.” Cleo said with a friendly, but confident smirk, ”And you can TRUST that I won’t be making it easy for you. You’re going to learn what it’s like to go up against a champion…”
Cleo laughs to herself for a moment.
“..Against a REAL champion I should say.” she grinned, “Don’t let busters like Sanders get you down, that’s the sort of thing that little bastard wants. He’s just mad because you kicked his fucking ass, and that’s where you hold one over me…you were able to beat Jonathan Sanders one on one. Something I’ve never been able to do.”
Her tone shifts slightly near the end there, clearly the fact she hasn’t beaten Sanders doesn’t rest easy on her mind.
“He’s a punk, and he’s probably threatened by you.” Cleo said, with a more aggressive tone, “We may be opponents this week, but if you ever need backup against those ANTITHESIS punks, then you know that I gotchu if you need me.”
“Bet.” Z-Money confirmed.
“But we don’t need to worry about them here, victory or not I’m not afraid of Jonathan Sanders and he knows better than to fuck around with me. Big ups to your boyfriend for shutting Alex up by the way, I was getting sick of listening to him around The Lyons Den.” Cleo said, calming her tone at this point. “All we have to worry about is our match. Show me I’m not wrong about you, show me that you are as good as I think you are and lay it all out there, you know damn well I’m going to.”
“Yeah!” Z-Money suddenly chimed in, lowers her shades slightly and looks at him, one eyebrow raised. “My homegirl is gonna show you whats good Kallie. You want that championship match, you better earn it. Show us you can earn it.”
Z notices Cleo staring at him.
“Sorry…” he shrugged, “Sometimes I get tired of standing here, I feel like people forget I exist sometimes.”
A head-shake, and a roll of the eyes before Cleo continues, “Classic Z, ain’t nobody forget about you man.” she says before turning attention back to the cameras, “As my cohort here said, if you want that championship match you earn it. I’m not Jonathan Sanders. If you beat THIS champion, I’ll make sure you get what you deserve.”
Cleo pounds a fist on her chest twice, one of her ways of showing respect.
“I don’t even really want to stand here and trash talk you, because there’s nothing to really trash. You’re just going out there and trying to make your way in this business and make your people proud.. I got nothing but respect for that. But understand I got people I’m fighting for as well, and many of them will never get the opportunities that you and I have. Many society has given up on. For me, it’s about showing them it’s never over, there’s always a way out, you just have to keep fighting until you find it. Sometimes more than others, but the more you fight the stronger you’re going to be when that time does come, and then nobody is going to be able to stop you.” Cleo said, words continued to spill from her lips, “I look forward to our match Kallie, just understand that when that bell rings, it’s going to be all business, and I truly hope you don’t take it personally when I do what I always do, and…SET. IT. OFF."
Cleo pounds her championship with confidence, standing triumphantly as her and Z stare into the cameras, until the scene fades to dark.
