(We open our scene in the most magical place on earth…for those of you at home, that’s Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Got a problem with this starting like this? I really don’t care. It’s my party and I’ll cry-wait…this is Disney…and Crusade…there’s no crying! Or ist that football? Ah well. We bop along to the joyous music echoing throughout the park, as we come across the family Madison. Young Aaron, wide-eyed, and looking around at all his magical surroundings, father, Nick, trekking along with him in his arms, as Laura, Bella, and Mal walk ahead of them. Laura takes a second to step back to check on her boys.)
Laura Phoenix: Are you sure you don’t want to go on Thunder Mountain?
Nick Madison: I’m still trying to recover from Space Mountain…was jerky as hell.
(From up in front of them, we hear the voice of Bella Madison.)
Bella Madison: Says the old man.
Nick Madison: I may not be as limber as I used to be, but I can still whip you.
Laura Phoenix: Save it for Crusade you two. What are you and Aaron gonna do while we’re in line?
Nick Madison: Not sure, but I’m sure we’ll find something. As long as it’s not…that…ride again.
Laura Phoenix: Oh? You mean…(in a sing-songy voice) Iiiiiiit’s a small world affffter all…
Aaron Madison: NO!
Nick Madison: That’s my boy.
(Laura laughs, as she gives Aaron a kiss on the cheek, then one to Nick.)
Laura Phoenix: We’ll meet ou boys after we’re done.
Nick Madison: Have fun.
(Laura walks off with Bella and Mal, as they head off to Thunder Mountain. Nick and Aaron keep walking around in Frontierland, taking in the sights and sounds of the Magic Kingdom.)
Nick Madison: So, buddy. What do you want to do?
Aaron Madison: Can we do Pirates?
Nick Madison: Don’t you wanna wait till your mom and the others are back to ride that?
Aaron Madison: We can ride it with them too!
Nick Madison: But you wanna ride it just us two?
Aaron Madison: Yeah!
Nick Madison: Well, then…in that case…Yo ho Yo ho…
Aaron Madison: A pirate’s life for me!
(We leave our adventurous heroins, as they head to traverse the open seas and mingle with swashbucklers and follow in the adventures of the ever infamous Captain Jack Sparrow! We catch back up with them a little later, as they are walking back to meet up with their party, little Aaron grinning from ear to ear, and singing and bobbing his head along.)
Aaron Madison: Yo ho, yo ho! A pirate’s life for me!
(Of course, these are really the only words of the song he knows, so he sings them…over and over again…even up to when they meet up with Laura, Bella, and Mal.)
Laura Phoenix: What did you guys end up doing?
Aaron Madison: Pirates! WE RODE PIRATES!
Laura Phoenix: What? Without me?
Nick Madison: It’s what he wanted to do. I wasn’t gonna tell him no.
Aaron Madison: Daddy Aaron time! We can ride it again.
Laura Phoenix: Is that what you wanna do?
Aaron Madison: Yeah!
Laura Phoenix: You guys wanna join?
Bella Madison: I think we’ll let you guys go on that one.
Nick Madison: What? Don’t wanna go see your spirit animal?
Bella Madison:....
Laura Phoenix:.....
Nick Madison: The redhead…the mouthy one.
Laura Phoenix: Just remember where she gets it from…
Nick Madison: How could I forget…
(The three break away from the other two, and head back to the land of swashbucklers and scallywags….aka the Pirates of the Carribean queue line.)
Aaron Madison: Daddy…I has question.
Nick Madison: What’s up, buddy?
Aaron Madison: Why you have to fight Bee? Don’t you love each other?
Nick Madison: Of course we do, buddy….I…
Laura Phoenix: I think I got this one. You know they love each other. This is just something they had to do before Daddy stops wrestling. Think of it as…you know that toy car Daddy gave you? The one that belonged to his dad?
Aaron Madison: Yeah!
Laura Phoenix: It’s like that. This match between Daddy and Bee is his way of giving Bee something like that.
Aaron Madison: Ohhh so she can love it forever?
Nick Madison: Something like that, buddy.
(It is here, where we leave our triumphant trio, as our scene fades. But, sit tight, as this journey continues, and we’ll once again be on our way in just a moment.)
(It’s a couple days later now…the day of Crusade, actually. The show is in a few hours, as everyone’s in the middle of the “running around like headless chicken” frantically trying to get things ready for the show to air. We travel the halls of the Amway Center, making our way out into the arena, and into the seating. It is there, that we find the protagonist of our story…well…I mean…he’s not THE bad guy, at least. It’s Nick Madison, of course. He sits in one of the seats, looking around at all the goings on, taking it all in for a moment. He lowers his head, taking a deep breath before he looks up at the camera…because of COURSE there’s a camera there. Oh, he’s wearing his trademark trench coat. Cause I feel that’s important.)
Nick Madison: For years, it was just me and my dad. We lost my mom when I was a kid, so we had to learn to survive with each other. It was tough, but we made it work. I really rarely ever talk about my dad that much…but damn I wish he could be here for this. He was a good man. Strong, fair, that’s the way I remember him. I don’t remember him for the last year of his life. I don’t remember him for when he got sick. I don’t remember him for when the cancer took over. I don’t remember that because I wasn’t around. Nah, I was busy off doing God knows what with God knows who. But still, when I finally made my way home…he welcomed me back with open arms.
(He takes a second, as it’s visible tears are starting to form in his eyes.)
Nick Madison: The last thing he said to me was to fight for what I believe in…It’s sad, but it’s only recently, within the past few years, that I’ve really grown to understand what that means. I’ve had a LOT of failures in my life. Hell, somewhere there’s a little girl that wants nothing to do with her father, and a woman I hurt beyond forgiveness. I told myself I wouldn’t make that mistake again, not this time. There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do for either of my kids, Bella or Aaron. That’s…fuck, that’s part of WHY this is my last match. I want to be there for when Aaron graduates high school. I wanna be there…eventually…for when Bella has her first child. I don’t wanna miss any birthdays, or christmases, I wanna be there for all the milestone moments. That’s why I’m hanging up my wrestling boots after this match. I’ve done just about everything there is to do in this company. I’ve won championships, main evented countess shows…hell, I’m a Hall of Famer. There’s really nothing else left for me to do, except to step aside, and let the next generation take the ball and run.
(He lets out a sigh, and readjusts himself in his seat.)
Nick Madison: That’s where you come in, Bella. You are the next generation. There’s no one I could picture this match against other than you. I’ve known it was gonna be you for months. It was all building to this…it all was leading to this. You were the first person I had a major part in training. It’s only appropriate that it comes full circle for you to be who I have my last match against. I just…hope you’re able to stay focused through it all. I know you’ve had a lot going on, and your mind has been all over the place with everything. Just…I don’t think I have to tell you how much this means to me, as I know it means as much to you. I just want to make sure you don’t let any distractions get in the way. I know you’re going to give me a great match. I just hope it’s something you can live with after it’s all said and done. This will be the one and only time we face off…hell, we’ve never stood across the ring from each other in any capacity. Which, you could probably take some advice on how to do that from your mom. I’d say Mal too, but…he doesn’t have the best record against me.
(Insert cheeky little grin here.)
Nick Madison: But in all seriousness, we’ve had our fun. Disney World was great. And getting to spend the time with the family over Christmas was amazing. But now, it’s time to lace up the boots, one last time.
(Suddenly, the arena sound system begins blaring with “The Final Countdown” echoing through the building. The sudden start causes Nick to jump, as he looks around, before noticing Levi Russow roaring down the ramp in the Russow family suped-up lawn gator. Levi speeds down the ramp, rounding the ring a couple of times, as people literally dive out of the way. Levi finally comes to a stop in front of Nick, as he looks at him.)
Levi Russow: Th’HELL you waiting on? Fuckin’ ride off into the sunset? This ain’t yer first last match, remember? Bet it won’t be your last.
Nick Madison: I do remember, but this time will be the last.
Levi Russow: Then hop on and let us commence the retirement party!
Nick Madison: I still have to wrestle…
Levi Russow: NICHOLAS LEVI MADISON!
Nick Madison: That’s not my middle name….
Levi Russow: IT IS NOW! GET ON! WE RIDE!
(Nick lets out a sigh.)
Nick Madison: You’re not going to leve until I do, are you?
Levi Russow: NOPE! NOT MY STYLE!
Nick Madison: Fine…
(Nick gets up and gets on the lawn gator.)
Nick Madison: High ho, Silver, away!
(With that, the two speed off, as our scene closes. And thus, we prepare to bring to close the epic story of the man, the myth, the legend…the one, the only…the Extremist…the Madman…the Hall of Famer…Nick Madison.)

What is expected of me.
That wasn’t a question but more of a statement.
When you find yourself the daughter of 2 particular major stars in the world, there is something behind the eyes of everyone that knows you or watches you. They expect something special all the time.
All. The. Fucking. Time.
So since my epic failure in SCW where I found myself on the mat, I wanted to do just about anything else to avoid the disappointment that I was certain I was going to see from everyone. Being so close to Christmas, I was in less of a Christmas mood. Especially because in just a few days time, I would have to stand across the ring from the man that has raised me since I was 11 years old. He hand picked me to give him his farewell match.
No pressure, right?
HA! ....fuck me.
Okay. So, storytime. Most know the whole story, some do not. I spent the first 11 years of my life being raised by a couple that had agreed to adopt me when my grandfather was a very different man. David and Brenda Miller were all that I knew for that time. Both were wonderful parents. But when she passed away from cancer when I was 10, she made it very clear to David that she wanted me to know who I really was. Once secrets came out and whatnot, mom and I were reunited.
She thought I was dead for 11 years. She was lied to by her family and her doctors and nurses when she had me. David pulled up stakes and he made sure he was close and is still very much involved in my life. He was my first dad but when mom and Nick married, I wanted more than anything to truly be his daughter. Strange, I KNOW! But from 12-15, I wanted so much to be Elizabeth Madison.
He didn’t understand why, but honestly it’s because for the first time in forever, I felt like I wanted to be a full on family. When he finally agreed to it, David signed over everything, has turned into almost an uncle and Nick became my dad.
Not many girls can honestly say that she has the best of all worlds, but I do.
Of course when I left for Paris for that little bit and met Malachi, there was a bit of a rough patch. Course he wasn’t my grandfather’s favorite either until he proved himself, but he did walk me down the aisle for my wedding...so something must have changed his opinion.
So that’s pretty much the Reader’s Digest version of it.
But I still am just unsure of this. This whole taking him on in his final match...ever. It doesn’t feel like it should be me. I wouldn’t have even been upset if he had chosen someone else for this task but I know what this is.
I just don’t know if I’m ready for that stupid ass torch.
Christmas Night NYC
The 2021 Ford Mustang roars into the driveway portion of the abode that houses Bella and Malachi.
The converted old warehouse that belonged to her mom’s trainer, refurbished into apartments, lived in by Laura, bought by her out of spite when her and Kaoss were feuding...then her Uncle Mike moved into her mom’s old place while she took the floor below as her own. It was then turned over to Mike for ownership and then he gifted the two lovebirds the whole building and has since been converted into something much different. Their home.
Wow, that was a mouthful.
Either way, they had been away at Jack and Alanah’s for a whole big family thing for the last couple of days along with Luka.
“You’ve been quiet the whole ride home.” Mal stated. He had stopped the car before entering into the garage.
Bella takes a deep breath, before looking over at him with a softness in her eyes, “Sorry, just a bit tired. It was nice to get out of the city for a couple of days, but I missed our bed.”
“Same, can’t believe she pulled that off.” he said with a smile.
“Your sister has that amazing ability about her. Lord knows she needs it with Jack and the twins.” Bella quips with a smirk, “You looked like you were having some fun of your own.”
“You know...I honestly did. Helps me prepare for Disney...”
“At least you are owning up to the bet with dad. Don’t worry, I talked to mom though...we got it worked out. You won’t suffer alone.”
Mal just glares at her, “Whadda mean by that?”
“You’ll see.” she says with a smirk, “I gotta say, your present was absolutely beautiful. I’ve never seen photos on metal like that, but to get our main shot done like that. It may take the spot of the one I have hung up.”
“I was thinking the same thing. I’m glad you loved it.” he says with a smile, “I just can’t believe you left mine back here. It’s not like you to be so forgetful.”
”Well...I have something for you. But, I just wanted to get home before I gave it to you.”
“Back in the privacy of our own home?” he says with that devilish smirk on his face. Bella rolls her eyes before handing him a little box decorated with Christmas charm, “What’s this?”
“Your Christmas present,” she says as he takes it from her.
He opens it and sees an old fashion set of... “Keys...” Bella reaches up and presses the button to open the garage and they slide open to reveal a rather large something under a large white cloth. “What the-?”
He get out of the car, and walks into the garage and looks at it, “Go ahead...uncover it.” Mal reaches and grips the cloth and slowly pulls it off to reveal a 1974 MG Roadster and Mal’s jaw just drops, “I think you see why I waited til we got back.” she said with a bit of her lip.
“Mo grah...this...this is...”
“Yours, I’ve been working on it for a while, before your birthday actually.”
“So the Stang was just...”
Mal walks around as Bella babbles on, “Well a fall back, and a gift to me too cause it’s just so pretty. But I had it brought over and she was in a bit of rough shape so I decided to save it for Christmas....I hope you like it. And she’s all legal, I made sure of that. I figure once the weather gets nicer we coul-” and before she is allowed to continue on he sweeps her up in his arms and kisses her deeply.
“I love it. And now I need to think of something else to get you.”
“Well you know...we never really truly got our honeymoon...” she says with a bright smile, “Does this make up for Small World?”
“It’s possible...”
If You Wish Upon A Star Orlando, FL
“I can’t believe Crusade is actually here and I can’t believe that this match is really happening.” Bella decided to take a walk, and found herself a quiet corner of the world. She sniff and her voice breaks with, “I’m...I’m not ready for you to go, dad.”
“You have taught me so much, both in life and in the ring that I cannot imagine coming to PWS and not seeing you there lacing up and ready to beat some high quality ass. But, like all good things, it has to end sometime right?” she laughs and swipes a tear awa, “And it’s so awkward for me, because usually I could step in front of a camera, look ahead and just tear my opponent apart. But I don’t want to do that because ...you are one of the most incredible people I have ever known. I know a few years ago when I had begun my training, that there was always a tease that I would be it for you. And you know something, old man, part of me didn’t believe it. But I am honored.”
“I’m honored because the torch of Madison is moving on, and honestly, I hope that somehow I have made you proud. I hope that I have never let you down...though I’m sure I have. It’s so weird for me to sit here and tell myself that it’ll be okay....or for mom to tell me that it’ll be fine. That it’s all for a reason and I’ll be honest, I hate it. But I’m going to go out at Crusade, I’m going to face you like you want and you will get the best of me...that’s my Christmas present to you.” she inhales deeply, “That promise that I will give you everything and we will leave it there. And then finally, maybe you can rest....and maybe I can do just a little bit more. You taught me what it is to give, that feeling of giving the best and seeing the pleasure and gratitude on their face. That’s what I plan to do....”
“One more time, old man. You. Me. And the greatest gift of all.” she smiles, tucking her hands behind her, “Everything you taught me....and the knowing that I got this. I promise. After all, that is what is expected of me.”
