Not the one to be forgotten about.
(The scene opens up in LA and we’re at Madison’s house. It’s not as big and full of luxuries as her sister or Gracie’s house but it’s a nice start-up home and it’s big enough to fit the stuff she needs in it. The house isn’t used on a regular basis for meet-ups like their houses are. But we see Crystal there, just like every other Lopez, she’s had a rough couple of weeks but she won’t say anything unless the family says it’s ok. Ever since meeting Crystal, Madison has become good friends with her, and see’s her as a sister and with them being so close in age as well, with Madison being a couple of years older, makes Crystal feel like she has someone to relate to.)
Crystal: Hey you, you ok?
Madison: Yeah, I’m doing fine. Just everything over the last couple of weeks has taken its toll on me just a bit. I didn’t think all of this would be this stressful.
Crystal: I knowwwww, but I wouldn’t want to share this type of emotional rollercoaster with any other family. But on the other hand, this experience has given me the chance to meet the other members of this family that I wanted to meet, but couldn’t since everyone is busy.
Madison: I don’t get the hate this family has, I mean I know why they get the hate but they don’t know what this family goes through on a day-to-day basis. It’s like everyone thinks this family is perfect, we’re not. We have issues even doctors couldn’t fix. I mean look at you and me, we come from completely different backgrounds with different parents, in your case, your mother never wanted you around this family…. But we found this family in almost a similar fashion. We’re both related to someone famous, hard workers, and caring people that people don’t really understand.
Crystal: They don’t, but they’ll judge….like always. It’s ok, I’ve learned how to handle the judgments of others, just ignore them. In a way, I asked for this by trying to figure who my dad was and now knowing he’s a famous wrestler, kinda adds to the judgments, even being an intern with this company brings it, but I’m gonna be me. I’m not changing for anybody.
(Madison looks at the girl with a smile on her face. Madison isn’t changing for anybody either. They’re part of this family no matter what anybody says and just like the family would do, they don’t care about outside opinions of them.)
Madison: Good! Never change for anybody else.
Crystal: I won’t. If people hate me because I’m the daughter of Eddie, so be it. Who cares, I’m not a threat to anybody, I don’t wrestle as my sister does, or like you guys do. I’m going to be part of this company, and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. I’m on my last legs of the internship, and I’ve outworked everyone…
(Crystal shrugs her shoulders. She’s getting the same attitude that Gracie has and who knows if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Gracie has the “I don’t care” attitude towards everything negative about her.)
Madison: We’re rubbing off on you...I can tell and it’s great! After everything we’ve been through, I’m glad we’re family... but I guess I should talk about the match coming up, huh?
Crystal: You should. I know you have more you want to talk about it, but we don’t have the right to say anything about why we’ve been gone. That’s going to be covered at the show,
Madison: Yeah, I’m not going to ruin Gracie’s announcement, so for now, it’s better left unsaid and we’ll just talk about something else.
Crystal: Go on….
(Madison knows she’s about to strike a chord with some of the stuff she’s about to say and she doesn’t care either way.)
Madison: Since February, I’ve had my share of tag team matches here and I’m ok with it you know? But this upcoming match is my FIRST singles match in this company. My FIRST, and yet I’m supposed to put on a fake smile and pretend to be happy about it? I’m not and I won’t. I don’t like the fact that this place keeps a talented person on the sidelines for what? Ego problems? They don’t want me to be a star? Do they want to protect Jenn and Gracie? The last question, I get. Jenn and Gracie are their stars and no jealousy towards them whatsoever, I’m happy for them, and I’ll support them no matter what they do.
(Madison grows a genuine smile on her face when she mentions her family, she wishes no ill will towards them, and never will. But the idea of not being booked is at its’ breaking point for her.)
Madison: Just like the good portion of this roster, I wrestle in a 2nd company as well, But I won’t say what it is because it may bruise some people’s ego, and it may upset some people that I even work there...but at least there they give me a reason to show up every week and I impressed them to a point where I got a stranglehold on the women’s division, and have been their champion for the last 10 months. I bring them up because at least they see VALUE in me, and I have a reason to show up. Look, I’m not saying this place doesn’t see value in me, but they have a strange way of showing it….
(Madison shrugging her shoulders, she knows there’s a reason why this company signed her in the first place but she will figure it out.)
Madison: A couple of shows ago, Lexi said something making your own opportunities, I know it was directed at Gracie but I’m going to use that logic as well. Enough of waiting for my turn, enough of waiting for people to tell me when I show to do this or that, and everything in between. Enough of being forgotten about, and it starts this show and the person I’m facing. Now, I’m not going to come into this match with guns blazing and trying to lose focus or get myself DQ’ed, that’ll be stupid on my part. I’ll be making a statement my own way, a way for the management and everyone to finally pay attention. Tonight is an opportunity and I’m not going to waste it and let some new person like Ivory take it from me.
(Madison took a quick look at Crystal, who is listening to everything she has said so far. Crystal isn’t shocked by the emotion that Madison is having here, she knows this well from waiting and listening to her do promo’s elsewhere. But there’s something about Madison that makes Crystal worry a little, something seems….off and Crystal can’t really put a finger on it, she knows that Madison is motivated….sometimes motivation can lead to bad things happening to other people.)
Madison: Ivory, I know you’re new here but you are being thrown to the sharks and it’s not going to look good for you. I don’t care why you’re here for and I don’t care what you have to say about me either, it’s going to be a one-sided match with me taking my frustrations out on you, and making my own opportunities that have been given to other people. Look, I get you’re going to be a good wrestler someday, SOMEDAY that’s the keyword, it’s just not going to be tonight. You’re facing a focused, angry, bitter person and just for your sake you better be ready.
(Madison shrugs her shoulders towards the camera, she starts to walk off her way of saying she has nothing much more to say about Ivory and she doesn’t care to get to know about the person either. Crystal starts to move around as well and grabs her coat. Both of them start to exit the door as the scene comes to an end.)
