Chapter One - Pirate’s Life for Me
“Hoist the colors! Set sail scallywags! Heeee Hoooooo!”
( coming crashing into the scene, we see our beloved heroes, Captain Nick Madison, first mate, Josiah Cena, and young...porter, Aaron, as they sail on the grand S.S. Bella Notte, through the halls of the United Center. Their “ship” of majesty….well, it’s really just a golf cart with a pirate flag, but your imagination can make it look however you please Anyways, Josiah is driving, while Nick stands on the side, looking out for “islands” and Aaron is sitting in the middle, smiling and having the grandest of times. Suddenly, everything comes to a screeeeching halt, as we see standing in front of them, is a rather….perturbed looking, Laura Phoenix.)
Aaron Madison: Mama!
Nick Madison: Uh, hello love…
Laura Phoenix: What...in the fu-world….are you doing?
(Nick cautiously gets off the golf cart, trying not to make any sudden movements, in fear the Phoenix may strike.)
Nick Madison: I...well, you see, the young lad wished to portray the adventures of the almighty Captain Jack Sparrow, so I felt that I had the duty to oblige.
Laura Phoenix: Why...are you talking like that?
Nick Madison:...cause I’m Cap’n Nick Madison, love.
Laura Phoenix:...weren’t yuo supposed to be laying him down for a nap?
Nick Madison: Aye, but circumstances arose that were out of my control and I had no choice but to allow them to dictate the outcome.
Laura Phoenix:....
Nick Madison: He wanted to play pirates and wouldn’t take no for an answer, and wasn’t tired.
(Of course, Laura facepalms at this.)
Laura Phoenix: You see the problem here, right?
Nick Madison: The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude towards the problem. Do you understand?
Laura Phoenix: I understand that I’m about to beat your ass…
(By this point, little Aaron has stood up in the seat of the golf cart, and is jumping up and down on the seat. He slips and starts to fall out onto the concrete, but thankfully, the ever quick-thinking Cap’n Nick Madison makes the save, diving and catching his son just in the ‘nick” of time...see what I did there? Anyways, carrying on.
Nick Madison: Did everyone see that? Cause I will NOT be doing that again. You alright, Aaron?
Aaron Madison: Again!
Nick Madison: No no, once is far more than enough for that.
(Nick brings Aaron over to Laura, as she checks to make sure he’s actually okay, which he is...he’s fiiiiiine. She turns to Josiah.)
Laura Phoenix: Okay, I get his weakness and wanting to play pirate...but you?
(Just then, we hear the tiny yet blusterious voice of a certain little redhead, as she comes screaming down the hall.)
Ariana Cena: GET BACK HERE YOU NO GOOD SCALLYWAG!
(Josiah turns to Lau.)
Josiah Cena: Yeah...ever since we saw the movies...it’s been a thing. Especially since she found out there’s a ride at Disney, I’ve heard it non-stop to take her, so that’s gonna be a thing at some point.
Laura Phoenix: Yeah, I have a feeling we’ll have a similar situation in December.
Nick Madison: Well, that’s one boat ride I’ll happily go with him on.
Laura Phoenix: Might not be the only boat ride you go with him on.
Nick Madison: No no, I refuse.
Laura Phoenix: Well if you don’t start taking this match seriously and train, you’re going to be going on Small World.
Nick Madison: Do you really want to put yourself through that?
Laura Phoenix: Me? I won’t be the one riding it.
Nick Madison: Maybe not, but what’s stopping me from getting that song stuck in your head, and making sure Aaron knows it and doesn’t stop singing it.
Laura Phoenix:...you DO want to continue to have the ability to have more kids if we want, correct?
Nick Madison:....duly noted.
Laura Phoenix: That’s what I thought. Now, I was actually looking for you because they want you to cut a promo for the show, so...I’ll take this little man for a nap, and you go do that.
Nick Madison: Ugh, do I have to?
Laura Phoenix: Yes.
Nick Madison: Fiiiiiiiiine.
(Laura starts to walk off with Aaron, but stops to turn back around to Nick.)
Laura Phoenix: I am curious though, why the golf cart?
Nick Madison: I was trying to get him over his fears of golf carts...y’know...cuz Eddie.
Laura Phoenix: Gotcha...it work?
Nick Madison:...d’you see him jumping up and down on the seat a minute ago?
Laura Phoenix: Right, alright, have fun cutting that promo. Josiah, you and Ari have fun doing….whatever it is you were doing.
(Ari hops into the golf cart with Josiah, as they take off, and Nick hangs his head, heading off to do the promo.)
Chapter Two - Setting the Stage
(The bright lights shining down, the empty seats, all lined up in nice rows on the floor. The barricade set up, ready for the fans that will be leaning against it in the next few hours. The ropes of the ring, tightened and ready to go, and Nick Madison, perched atop the turnbuckle, as he overlooks the scene of an empty arena, counting down the time before the doors open, and the crowd rushes in for PWS: APEX Dishonored. The camera pans over to find Nick sitting on the turnbuckle, as he hops down.)
Nick Madison: Here we are, Malachi. Son-in-law….
(He stops for a moment, shaking his head.)
Nick Madison: Not gonna lie, still feels a bit odd to say that.
(He looks up at the camera.)
Nick Madison: Nevermind that, though. Tonight, you’re nothing more than my opponent….I mean...I have to tell myself that, or else I’ve already lost this match. I can’t go into this seeing you as my friend, family member, anything like that. It shouldn’t be THAT hard to do that, I’ve managed to do it before. This isn’t the first time we’ve stepped into the ring, and we both know how that went the first time ‘round.
(He leans against the ropes, as he thinks over something.)
Nick Madison: But, this time...this time’s different. Isn’t it, Mal? This time...it’s almost like...it means more. There’s something to prove this time, for both of us. You want to come out and prove you can beat me, and I want to come out and prove that I still have what it takes to hang with the young guard….
(Nick backs away from the ropes, spinning slowly in the middle of the ring.)
Nick Madison: I know this match is going to be hard hitting, fast paced, all that lovely noise. I’m ready for it. Are you? I’m ready for the fighting, the scratching, the bleeding...if need be. I’m ready for the violence, but I need to know that you’re ready as well, because Mal, my friend, you are along for this wild ride alongside me. We’re going to venture on this journey together to reach our destination, and once we arrive, one of us will be the victor, and to the victor go the spoils, while the other...will be forced to wallow in self pity, as they prepare to take voyage on a journey of a completely different type come December in Florida.
(Nick smirks to himself, before looking back at the camera.)
Nick Madison: Do you really know what’s at stake here, Malachi? I love my son, but that ride...that be the stuff of nightmares. That song...oh, that song. It gets imbedded in your brain, and no matter how hard you try, no matter how much you scratch, and claw, and fight, you cannot get it to escape the grasps of your mind. Not to mention the fact you’ll be joined by a hyper-active two year old with a love of anything on the water...oh yes, it’ll be a GRAND ole time.
(He says that with THE MOST sarcastic of looks on his face.)
Nick Madison: SO! With all that being said...hoist your colors, raise your sails, swap your decks, buckle your seatbelt, light the flame, whatever the hell you have to do, cause wether you like it or not, you’re in for the fight of your life, kid.
(Nick stops, and looks at the camera one last time.)
Nick Madison: Best of luck to ya.
