Theme song: “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” by Eminem
Entrance: The house lights dim in the arena and the familiar thumping of Eminem’s “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” begins playing as loud as it can, assaulting the ears of anyone who can hear it. Immediately the fans in the arena boo loudly in response. Once the song reaches the chorus for the first time Matthew Paul comes out from backstage. With his arms outstretched Matthew turns around slowly in a circle before he starts walking toward the ring wearing black boots, black trunks, black knee pads, black elbow pads, black wrist bands, black leather jacket that says “King” in white cursive writing on the back, and black sunglasses. With a smirk on his face, Matthew seems to revel in the crowd’s hatred as he makes his way to the squared circle. Once he is finally there and steps inside, Matthew goes to the center of the ring and with his arms outstretched again, he turns around in a slow circle one more time as the song ends. Once it does, Matthew goes to his corner and takes off his jacket and sunglasses, handing them to a ring attendant, before he turns around and he is all business focusing on his upcoming match.

Short Bio: Growing up on High Street in Columbus, Ohio is never easy, and that was just the beginning of the strikes that were against Matthew Paul. Born to a single mother the third of five children where all five children had separate Dad’s none of which are around, Matthew didn’t even bother to try and compete for his Mother’s attention, realizing that drugs and liquor were much more important to his Mother and required the large majority of said attention. The one thing that Matthew did have going for him though is that he was best friends from the time he was in the first grade with third grader Simon Lyman. Simon is the son of Richard Lyman the shipping mogul and his wife Karen a homemaker, and though his father had what some would call “questionable” ways of parenting his son, Simon never wanted for anything growing up except a real relationship with his Dad, something the two boys had in common . But because Simon was generous to his best friend, once they became friends Matthew never wanted for anything either.
Another thing that bonded Matthew and Simon was their love of professional wrestling which as they became older translated into a burning desire to become professional wrestlers. For Simon this was easier than most, as even though he still had to work at his craft and he did, at 6’ 4” and 240 pounds there were a lot of doors that were opened for him in the industry that might not have been for other people. Starting in 1995 right after his high school graduation, Simon would have a brilliant career, one that would see him become a World Heavyweight Champion on 6 separate occasions, as well as 29 singles titles total and 22 tag team titles also. Only a major stroke in 2016 could slow him down, causing him to be out for rehabilitation the last 7 months of the year. The following January he would try a comeback, but it was never the same and he was forced into retirement in August of that year. Known throughout the world as “The Hero”, Simon now works training up and coming wrestlers.
For Matthew who is 2 years younger than Simon to the day, it was never that easy, because when you were 5’ 11” and 200 pound in the 90’s you had a hard time getting anyone to offer to help you in professional wrestling, figuring that you were too small to make it. Thus Matthew had to scratch and claw his way up on the independent circuit in the US. He has made quite a name for himself too, as nobody has more passion for what they do then Matthew Paul. He never forgot how much easier Simon had it moving through the ranks because of his size and this made Matthew bitter toward his best friend, though Simon would never know that because the two men rarely talk anymore, being that both of them were traveling constantly for years, and Matthew still is. Though he is a world renowned talent now, many have questioned whether or not Matthew is the self-proclaimed “King of the Indies” or not, a claim that will be tested now that Matthew has decided to make PWS Apex his new home.

Moves: *Note to match writers* Being a 22 year veteran in the ring who is described as an “All-Arounder” this is just a small sample of the moves that Matthew can use in his arsenal. Also, being that he is only 200 pounds himself, 325 pounds would be the most he would be able to pick up from an opponent. Not that he would not try to pick up larger opponents, he would try, but he would fail because he is not Superman
