I wake up every morning with my head up in a daze I'm not sure if I should say this, fuck, I'll say it anyway Everybody tries to tell me that I'm going through a phase I don't know if it's a phase, I just wanna feel okay, yeah I battle with depression, but the question still remains Is this post-traumatic stressing or am I suppressing rage? And my doctor tries to tell me that I'm going through a phase Yeah, it's not a fucking phase, I just wanna feel okay, okay?
Popular Monster
Sierra: ”I’m going to kill that mother fucker”
It was October 2016. It had been a few hours since Sierra had come back from meeting her ex and his lawyer. She had told her parents what happened, the words had trembled from her lips and she took her seat. Sierra’s father Oscar paced back and forth, her mother looked up at home with a sigh. Sierra sat on the edge of the couch. She had been numb since she had walked in. Her parents had expected to see her daughter. They had been looking forward to the visit. To the family time.
But it had been taken away, in one moment. A few lies taking Jade away from her mother, her grandparents and her uncles.
Her eyes stared forward, looking down at the carpet. Her father's feet shuffling across it, his hands moving as he spoke. But the words just faded out, it sounded as if she was underwater. All noises seemed drowned out. Like her feelings. She couldn’t face it. The pain, the sadness. The anger. Her father took care of that. Her father was angry, her mother was sad. They had shared it the second she told them.
Sierra swallowed hard and pushed up to her feet, Oscar stopped pacing as Catherine reached up to take her hand. Sierra's eyes filled with tears as she looked up into her father's eyes.
Sierra: ”I’m sorry”.
Her voice was barely a whisper. Catherine also started to tear up, Oscar calmed down and pulled his daughter into a hug, he lightly rubbed her back as Sierra started to cry. She just let it all out, all the anger and all the pain. After a few moments Oscar took hold of her shoulders and pulled Sierra in front of him with a small smile. He wiped away her tears and gave her a small kiss on the forehead.
Oscar: ”We will fight this. Steven will not get away with it. He will not take Jade away from you.”
Sierra gave a small nod of acknowledgement and appreciation. She backed away and made her way from the living room and up the stairs to her bedroom closing the door behind her as she sat on the end of her bed.
Bzz Bzz
Her phone went off lighting up, her eyes darted over seeing the text from her brother asking her to come meet them both at the gym. She quickly replied with a no placing her phone face down and staring off into space. Her mind phasing out as she thought about Jade and where she was going from here. The lies Steven brought up and half truths. It was a set up from the start. She was blindsided, so was her lawyer. He couldn’t do anything but let it happen.
Sierra felt useless. She felt like she was a failure as a woman, as a mother, as a daughter. Her hand balled into a fist as the anger rose up again and her eyes welled up with tears, but these ones weren’t the slow ones of sadness that had streamed down her face when she was held by her father. These were ones fueled by anger. Hatred. Negative places that would bring only ruin and damage.
Bzz bzz
Her phone again, Sierra growled and grabbed the phone. Another message from Diego. This one strongly worded.
Si, we have a plan. Get here now.
Her lips turned up into a sneer, she typed back furiously. Her thumbs moving fast before stopping. Instead of pressing send she took a deep breath and calmed herself, deleting the message and sending two words…
Five minutes
She stood up throwing off the dress she had worn to the courthouse, no need for that. She grabbed a pair of black jeans and a black band shirt before throwing over a leather biker jacket and tying up a red bandana over her hair. She turned and moved her way down the stairs to the door, before her parents could say anything Sierra was out onto the street making her way down the two blocks to the gym.
There were so many cars there, imports with body kits and rims, she smirked and shook her head, knowing that inside was the entire crew.
Guys and girls Sierra had trained with and also trained. People that would have her back. It hit her at that moment that she had family ready to be there for her. Not just her parents, not just her brothers, but family she had been at war with. She swallowed hard before stopping at the door turning to see a baby blue subaru impreza. S, a small smile coming on her face. Her younger brother, Raphael. She moved to the door swinging it open, everyone was there, sitting in the ring or next to it. Sierra swallowed hard and smiled. Raphael was there, his arrogant smirk plastered on his face.He winked and mouthed “later” as Diego stepped forward to talk. Sierra's voice was low and in a whisper, shaking at the support being shown.
Sierra: ”What is this?”
Diego smirked and put an arm around her looking at all the friends, students and family before leaning over.
Diego: ”They got your back Si, and we got a plan”
Sierra laughed under her breath as Diego pulled her towards the group, all of them coming up to give her a hug and show support. But now...the plan was going to come together.
The Crusade
It had been a rough couple of weeks for Sierra Williams, needing to take time off from the ring was never on her top do list but it was a necessity. And after her successful return at Apex she had a less than successful one in Sin city wrestling. Getting destroyed post match by a monster known as Tempest. And now here she was, hurt and in pain, going into a huge show for Apex…
Sierra: “Well, this is going to suck.”
She laughed to herself wincing in pain as she stretched out her ribs and rolled her shoulder. She wore street clothes, a pair of red converse, black skinny jeans with trendy “pre tears” and a Calgary flames NHL jersey with a black bandana under her hair, a small bruise on her face under her left eye had turned purple with a yellow rim.
Sierra: “I don’t think it’s a secret that I try to portray myself as tough as nails, that I can take a lickin and keep on tickin’. And that isn’t just a character I came up with, it’s not a gimmick or just something that a company invented to sell merch. That’s just who I am. I get in the ring, I throw down and I keep coming. No matter how people feel about me I think people can agree, I ain’t no punk bitch. So calling off this match at Crusade? That was never an option, it never even ran through my mind. And Lachlan knew better than to try and stop me. Especially since in this company I have momentum.”
“After a month of not competing I came back, I made my statement against Moondust and reminded so many of you what I’m capable of. And I hope I got Mack McKane’s attention. Cause I’m going to say it again. I ain’t done with him, I ain’t done with the PWS Apex championship. And if Everett Jacobs somehow beats Mack, then I’ll be after him too. But Crusade is just another chance for me to plant my flag and stake my claim.”
“To have every single one of you look at me and go “Damn, Sierra Williams is a bad bitch”. See, Apex is now my home. It’s where I want to be, week in and week out.”
“I want to fly this companies flag and I want to be the catalyst to bring people in. I want them to look at me and want to come here to try and beat me, to challenge themselves. And Mack McKane knows that if anyone in this company is going to give him a run for his money it’s me, not Everett Jacobs. But hey...miracles happen.”
Sierra rolls her eyes and pushes up to her feet, she limps for a moment but then leans against the wall with a sigh.
Sierra: “Just like it would be a miracle for Shawn Young to beat me. See Shawn, I have still been watching Apex and while I was gone you came in and started to have some matches, but this is the first time I’m really acknowledging your existence, so, I’m going to welcome you. And this is also your first every Apex pay per view appearance. Good for you. You got to a big show. And against me to boot. Now, you have had some good showings here. Facing Kasey, Collins, Malachi, Miss Puppies. Mixed success, mixed reactions. You haven’t exactly set the world on fire. And that leads me to question…”
“Why?”
“Why am I facing you Shawn?.”
“You came into this company with no hype, no fanfare and have also failed on every level to generate anything more than a single eyebrow raise and a nod. A small nod of approval for the small amount of potential you’ve shown. Meanwhile, before I took time off for personal reasons I was challenging for the goddamn top title in this company. Beating some of the competitors that PWS Apex says are their best. And now, after making my in-ring return against Moondust, I’m in the ring with you at a pay per view…”
She can’t help but scoff, throwing her hands in the air in an exasperated way before pushing off the wall, her anger and indignation helping her move more freely and ignore the pain.
Sierra: “A pay per view, where I’m playing fucking gatekeeper. Nope, that isn’t what Sierra Williams does. And I might not look like much now, a few bruises, moving gingerly, in pain. But come Crusade I will be one hundred percent. And I’m going to take all that anger I have, all that frustration and feeling of disrespect, I’m going to put it in my fists and beat the hell out of you with them Shawn.”
“And the worst part for you?, You haven’t done anything wrong. All you’re going to do is show up. But this is about sending a message, this is about reminding everyone I am one of the elite in PWS Apex, I’m better than Haze, I’m better than Russow, I’m better than Jacobs….I’m one of the best in the goddamn world and you are going to be a bright, shiny neon billboard in the middle of times square advertising that fact for me. So at Crusade….”
“You are in for a long, long night.”
“Kill Sierra Kill.”

Training with Tristen O’Brien. New York City, New York. Thursday, 17th December. (Off-Camera)
It’s been strange times in Apex Wrestling, winning every single match, apart from Malachi since he joined in the company and it has been a hard road. Sure, Shawn has been winning matches, but the problem was the wins were based on pure luck than the actual talent. So of course, Shawn had to get back to square one, mostly because he hasn’t appeared a lot on camera, primarily performing in the ring. Although the training has been good for the last few weeks with the pair of them, it was a promise that Shawn’s mentor made with Tristen to train with Shawn and have someone to talk to.
So far, things have certainly have gone well between the two, despite Tristen being Shawn’s mentor’s former trainer in the past. Both of them were in the wrestling gym that looks like it’s falling to pieces with walls peeling off. Shawn flew across the ring, even flying from the top turnbuckles with his feet and also on the ropes, something Shawn can only do in the wrestling business.
Shawn takes down Tristen with flying scissors and on top of the cradle pin too. Shawn then goes for varied moonsaults and even a jumping DDT on Tristen, only to finish things off by climbing on the turnbuckle and doing Young Hit Press on Tristen as he nods his head like Shawn was proud of the move he pulled and the way he did as well.
It was time for them to take a seat on the bench as Shawn picks up a bottle of water and drinks from the bottle as Shawn takes a deep breath as so does Tristen and he pats Shawn’s back and goes to say this.
Tristen O’Brien: “Good job out there, kid. I know you’re pretty down on how you’re performing so far, but your winning matches, except against Malachi. Yeah, the wins could’ve been more effective, but at the same time, you can’t deny how well of a run you are on right now.”
Shawn Young: “I know, but I don’t feel satisfied with it, despite the nicknames I keep getting called by some guys in commentary, but I suppose I’ve done something for the commentators to catch my attention of me in the ring.”
Tristen O’Brien: “Of course you have, winning matches and the moves you perform as well. I can’t ever see other wrestlers doing what you can in the ring. However, despite you performing so brilliantly in matches, there is a reason you feel like this and I’ve noticed that apart from when you were champion in the past, nobody has seen you appear backstage.”
Shawn Young: “I’m more of a wrestler than the kind who talks backstage. I don’t even like doing videos sometimes for matches, but I do them because I have to. Jumping on a trampoline, that’s what I choose to do because sitting around talking doesn’t do it for me. I know what you’re saying to get fans cheering me. It’s not really for me.”
Tristen could understand, it wasn’t Shawn’s thing to be standing backstage and talk about himself, however, Tristen sees the lack of confidence with that, purely because having a microphone to speak, just standing there wasn’t Shawn’s style. Tristen and Shawn drink their bottles of water, and Tristen speaks.
Tristen O’Brien: “I entirely get what you mean. Still, you can bounce on a large trampoline backstage and go crazy with the microphone in hand. That would be something everyone would love to see and besides, you love that sort of thing. Not this PPV because it’s too late to plan anything now, but something to think about as you must get camera time, so people can have a reason to support you.”
Shawn Young: “Nope because we need a bigger trampoline, to begin with, well need my own house, and I still don’t have enough money for one. Barely surviving on hotel expenses as it is. Just living on my own without my parents here is hard.”
Tristen O’Brien: “Yes, it is hard to be out of your parents home, being stuck here, living by yourself because of the virus, but I’m sure something good will come out of the whole experience and who knows what your parents will get you for Christmas.”
Shawn Young: “They already got me a laptop, and that to me, is enough. Much like you being here is an early Christmas present as well. I’d be all on my own if it weren’t for you since I can’t make friends with anyone in New York at the moment. I would’ve been fucked if it wasn’t for you.”
Shawn knew that would’ve been the truth, considering his mentor is far too busy wrestling in other companies. Still, his trainer around was good enough as they had a lengthy chat about the plans going forward, but there’s one thing they hadn’t spoken about, Shawn’s opponent for the PPV.
Tristen O’Brien: “Speaking of wrestling, you need to focus on Sierra Williams. As I can gather, she is a veteran of the sport. Sierra’s trained at a very famous wrestling school, Wolfslair, owned by Alex Jones. She was dominant against Moondust a couple of weeks ago. She’s also dating Lachan Kane as well, well married to him, and they held tag gold in another company.”
Shawn Young: “Why is everyone in wrestling got, somebody? Every company I go to, every girl has someone. Maybe I want a relationship with a professional wrestler, but I can’t find any single ladies out there.”
Tristen O’Brien: “That’s irrelevant. What is, however, is you being aware of your opponent, what they can do in the ring. She’s a bit more technical but at the same time, got the speed and agility as well. If we continue training tomorrow, then you will be ready for Sierra Williams. You got the ability to give her a hard time in the ring.”
Shawn Young: “I will find a way to beat her; besides, I don’t agree a lot of what she says at times. No worries though because I will give her a hard time in the ring, more than she expects. I guess I’m nervous facing Sierra in the ring. Still, this Young Hit Wonder will go for the pinfall for a three count.”
Tristen pats his shoulder, bring proud of Shawn for the way he trains in the gym. Just as Tristen was going to respond to Shawn, his mobile went off in his bag. Shawn unzips his bag and pulls his phone from his bag and says this.
Shawn Young: “Hello?”
Woman on the phone: “Hello, son, how are you doing?”
Shawn Young: “I’m fine, but I’m finding life without you guys with me hard, even the hotel room charges are getting expensive now.”
Lilly Young (Shawn’s mother): “I wouldn’t worry about that any longer because tomorrow, we’re coming down to New York because me and your father, let’s say we got you a Christmas present and you’ll thank us for it.”
Shawn Young: “Oh, I can’t wait. Of course, you can come tomorrow. I don’t have anything going on anyway. I’ll see you tomorrow. I text you both the address of the hotel I’m staying in too. Bye.”
They both put the phone down, and Shawn places everything of his gym wear away and zips his bag up, placing the phone in his pocket and says this to Tristen.
Shawn Young: “They are coming tomorrow to see me and want to show me something. I’ll better get going.”
Shawn picks his bag up and places it around his shoulders before he leaves the gym to head on to his hotel room and spends time getting himself ready for the visit of his parents tomorrow.

Shawn’s jump above to the hotel roof, almost. New York City, New York. Saturday 19th December. (On Camera)
Shawn’s in his hotel room, bouncing on the small trampoline he got himself a while ago, and it seemed like he was packing his things, who knows why that is, but at the same time, it could mean good things. Shawn has a smile on his face as he presses record on the camera via his youtube channel and begins to speak.
Shawn Young: “Whoooo, this Jumpin Jack is staying here for the last time today so you may see why I have my things packed, I won’t say why as I’ll leave that all up to you to figure out, but it can only mean something good and shiny. Don’t worry; it’s not stealing a wrestling title. Anyway, moving on, I’m facing a lady who seems to have a bit of an attitude problem, Sierra Williams.”
Shawn does a moonsault on the trampoline, before doing a twisting summersault on the trampoline, showing his excitement for the upcoming match.
Shawn Young: “You are impressive for sure on how you dominated against Moondust a couple of weeks ago on Riot. I know you got a ton of experience as a wrestler here and in Sin City Wrestling as I believe you won a tag title with your husband, Lachan Kane. Quite a good run I say and can’t discredit you on that, on top of the fights you had against the top wrestlers in Apex Wrestling.”
Shawn sighed, knowing this was the one bit he doesn’t like about doing videos, the trash-talking because he knows he can slip up easily. He continues as he continues to bounce.
Shawn Young: “What’s all this talk about people not setting the world on fire? Not everyone is like you; not everyone can shine straight off the bat, mostly when I’m still new here. Apart from Tyler Parks, nobody new has been a massive hit, and why does that matter when I’ve been winning matches? Plus the commentators gave me some nicknames, so I’ve been setting the world on fire if I’ve won all, but one of my matches. You’re too ignorant to notice.”
Shawn shook his head on the disrespect he could get from Sierra. Sometimes, you have to be brutally honest, and he says more to it.
Shawn Young: “Yes, all of us are competiting for titles, but why do you want to be champion so severely? Can’t you just focus on making an impact first before capturing them? It seems to be the only thing you talk about. What about earning them? I was surprised I admitted that when I fought Malachi in my second match, but I don’t expect to get title shots and I wouldn’t if I’ve just come back from dealing with personal reasons and whatnot. Focus on getting a few matches with people first, not demand title shots because that’s a way to earn your shit, not demanding one straight off the bat just because you had matches against the champions. That’s the past, focus on the future beyond titles.”
Shawn nods, although it will come across as disrespect to Sierra and he hated that, at the same time, he didn’t like doing videos for matches either.
Shawn Young: “The point is I don’t want to go for titles straight away, I want to make a mark and show the entire world who Shawn Young is, and although that’s started, although you are a threat, I’m going to prove you wrong that I’m an opponent that’s worth your time and indeed, being able to beat you in the ring. I don’t know why you think you’re the best because nobody is. If someone is, then they’d be undefeated in the ring in all matches. I can, however, say I’m the top guy who will push you to your limits with your title glory attitude who has a problem with the other belts here that aren’t worth your time. They are, and I wish you actually would go for United and Collateral titles because you haven’t been around apart from one match.”
Shawn takes a quick break from jumping as he grabs a cup of water and drinks it from his cup and speaks for the last time.
Shawn Young: “You will see who I am and what I’m capable of doing since you are likely not viewing me as a threat and won’t at anytime soon due to your arrogant attitude. I’m going to go out there, take you down with every move I have in my Arsenal and get you pinned for a three count or make you tap out, giving you a reality check on focusing on other things for now, besides titles. I’ll get a title shot because I would have earned it. Who isn’t hungry for titles? Everyone is, and nobody can stop The Young Hit Wonder, capturing another win in the bank and upsetting the odds of Sierra being defeated in the ring because anyone can win matches and shining the fire any day of the week. I’ll see you in the ring.”
Shawn stops jumping as he turns the camera and youtube recording button off as Shawn turns the lights off in his hotel room to get some sleep for the night.
