Cynthia Hellsing was sitting on a couch in a studio backstage during one of the foreign shows. In her hands, she’s holding a Nintendo Switch Lite. It was the special edition Pokemon Switch Lite. She was completely focused on the screen. Cynthia was wearing a shirt with “Grookey Gang” written on it with the Pokemon Sword and Shield grass starter.
Producer: Okay, what we’re going to do is a special interview on your life as it leads to your life with PWS: Apex. And we’re going to do it with photos we acquired from various sources.
Cynthia (looking up from her Switch): Define “various sources” for me.
Producer: Just random places. Your parents, friends, boyfriend, your social media, PWS media files, etc. They’re all going to all tie into your career here in PWS.
Cynthia: What pictures did you get?
Producer: Well, you’re going to see them one at a time. We want your candid reaction to each photo we go.
Cynthia: Okay… These photos aren’t gonna get me trouble, are they?
Producer: No… They’re good shots of you. Are there photos we should add to this?
Cynthia (Shaking her head vigorously): No! None at all…
Cynthia was obviously blushing from that exchange. She seemed a little nervous about what was going to be seen.
Producer: Okay, we’re about to start. Cynthia, give a good introduction for this interview.
Cynthia (nodding): Hello, everyone. I’m Cynthia Hellsing. And we’re taking a special look at my life leading up to this week’s pay-per-view. I’ve been told that we are going to look at various photos of my life, professionally and personal. So, whenever the producer is ready, Ikouze!
The first image showed was Cynthia taking a picture with Camilia Rodriguez at a meet and greet at a random convention in Waco, TX. Cynthia was cosplaying at L from the Death Note anime. Cynthia lit up when she saw her friend and old travel buddy.
Cynthia: CAMMIE-CHAN!!!! So, this is the picture when I first met Camilia. She was already signed with PWS and she was a big of a nerd as I was. I watched her indy work and was happy to meet her. So, here’s the story of how I got into professional wrestling. There was a small incident. A guy was trying to get too grabby with Cammie. I saw and locked the guy in a rear naked choke until security arrived. She was so impressed, she asked how i could do that. I told her I did amatuer wrestling and some basic MMA training in the past. She offered to train me and try out for PWS. And the rest is history.
The producer changed to slide. Cynthia blushed at the picture and squealed at it. It was a picture in a wrestling singlet that was clad in Green and Gold with Baylor University logo on the front of it. She appeared to have shorter hair. She also appeared to be a little leaner as well. She’s seen hanging her head with her opponent’s hand being raised.
Cynthia: Where did you get this?!
Producer (off camera): Your dad.bi
Cynthia: GEEZ… So, this was from the NCAA tournament. It was the final match in my weight class. I lost by a single point. I remember crying when I got back to the locker room. My dad and coach were there to calm me down. I remember i spent the whole weekend watching sad ending anime. I still remember my dad making watch some inspirational shows to get me out of my depression. Okay, next slide…
The next photo showed a picture of Cynthia and KC making goofy faces in a selfie. Cynthia gave a small chuckle. The photo was from the night they met in Vegas where they first met.
Cynthia: NANI?! Why did you give them that picture?
KC (off camera): Did you want me to give them the other photo of that night? I could have given them the one where you had on the-
Cynthia: Okay! So, this is when we was in Vegas. I was mad about what happened at Destiny. It was so frustrating being so close to the United Championship. I was furious at what happened. Cammie and I were transitioning from traveling with each other. And KC, with those beautiful eyes, was able to calm me and center me. We’ve been traveling ever since. And I love him for being my rock. DAI SUKI, KC-KUN
The next slide showed and it wasn’t one that was quite flattering. It was from Destiny. Miles Kasey was holding up the United title at Destiny. They were the last two in the United Championship elimination match. She had pinned the champion at the time in the match, but was caught off guard by Kasey.
Cynthia: Speaking of what happened at Destiny. Here was where I had the title in my grasp. I was so close. I wanted that belt so badly. I wanted to win it so badly. I remember going into heavy training for that. I think i got down to my college weight to keep up with the speed of the other wrestlers. I also didn’t like that I had made Milo tap in a match where I earned my one-on-one match for the United title. I remember I was tearing up the offices when i found out that the match was going to be in a fatal four way match.
The next slide was another defeat during a high profile match. It was the first time Cynthia faced Alanah O’Connell. She had a look of frustration on her face. In that look of frustration, she seemed to have a moment of clarity on her face as well. Cynthia sighed after seeing this photo.
Cynthia: This is where i sorta snapped inside. This was Red, White, and Bruised. It was a a number one contender’s match to face Milo for the United title. I made a personal decision on that day.
Producer: What was that decision?
Cynthia: I was sick and tired of the games. I was sick and tired of the politics and the backstabbing and people getting ahead of me. I was tired of begging. I was tired of being tired. I’d admit, I checked out. I actually was slightly broken. I wanted to quit. But i didn’t have the nerve to actually quit. But, i did seclude myself from the rest of the roster. I didn’t want to interact with anyone. KC was the only one i wanted to be around. Funny. Once i got this mentality, I haven’t lost since then. My mindset was that I’d arrive, wrestle, and leave. But, I was isolating myself so much that I was missing meetings and opportunities.
The slide showed Cynthia and KC camping outside of a Pokemon Center store in Japan. She had the same Grookey Shirt she’s wearing now. Her and KC were about the fourth and fifth person in line.
Cynthia: Okay, this was why I wasn’t at the Osaka show. Pokemon Sword and Shield was dropping that same day and I had to be there for the midnight release. I have a preorder for the North American back at home. I also have a Japanese Switch that allows me to play the Japanese games we don’t get here. So, I went on to get my copy os that i can play while I was here. I was really disappointed that the launch event was cancelled because people weren’t happy about the changes to the game that was made. It was mainly because of the lack of National Pokedex in this new game. But the game was really good regardless. I couldn’t put it down since it came out. Except for this interview. Are there anymore photos?
Producer: No, I think we ran through them all.
Cynthia: Well, that’ll do it from me. Don’t forget to tune in to Last Rites on Pay-per-view!
The interview ended and Cynthia picked up her Switch and walked out of the studio. As she was walking out with KC, who was playing his switch as well. They ran into Daniel Clark. He was smirking as noticed the couple.
Clark: So, if it isn’t the fly-by-night wrestler. So, how are you going to handle facing real talent for the first time since… well, Red, White, and Bruised. Oh, Alanah was the one who beat you there too. How did you even get into this match? There’s way more people more deserving of this match than you.
Cynthia lowered her switch when she heard Daniel speak to her in that manner. She grabbed him by his collar and pulled him closer with a stern expression on her face.
Cynthia: Baka… Listen to me. When I made Milo tap, I earned my 1-on-1 match for the United Championship. But, the powers that be never gave me that match. They tried to make me jump through hoops to get on television. I chose not to play those games. I arrive, win, and leave. That’s my MO. I’ve done that so much that management had no choice but to give me this match. At Last Rites, I’m gonna right a wrong done onto me. And that will result in a live Resident Evil game as I will be taking Alanah O’Connell to Racoon City. and I’ll be leaving this glorious place as your NEW United Champion. Now, get out of my face.
Cynthia had let Daniel go and walked passed him with KC following her.

Tokyo, Japan
The scene opens in a serene zen garden, cherry blossoms gently flutter to the ground and we see kneeling at a table in a traditional kimono sitting across from an elderly Japanese couple, sits Alanah O’Connell. The old lady pours three small cups as each of them take one and hold it up bowing to each other over it. Gently they sip the sake’ as the elderly couple get up and take their leave into the house nearby. Staring into her cup, Alanah begins to speak.
“Cynthia I know how exciting this must be for you. To be in the one country you always wanted to visit most. And you rightfully should be! You earned the right for this vacation. But what you didn’t earn, in my eyes, is a shot at my United Championship.”
She gazes to the side of the table, where her treasured title sat gleaming in the early morning light. She smiles softly as she ran a hand across her name engraved on the front of it, before she calmly gets up and walks over unsheathing a katana as she begins twirling light as a feather with it.
“But while you’re off playing Dance, Dance Revolution and soaking up your Nintendo and harajuku lifestyle, I’ve been here. Making friends is always so invaluable don’t you agree? You pride yourself on your knowledge of Japanese culture? Let me teach you a new lesson. I’m certain you’ve heard of the Bushido Code, am I right? And surely you know that it involves eight simple principles.” She twirls viciously, swiping the sword through the air with a practiced ease. “Rectitude! Keeping your behavior and your thoughts moral and righteous. But you failed at that haven’t you, Cynthia? Your jealousy, your rage, your contempt. You’ve wanted nothing more than to take every shortcut you can to get to my title. What a shame, but what about…”
Alanah swings the sword the other way, a soft swish following her movements as her kimono flows around her. “Courage! Well c’mon darling, you and I both know that’s the furthest thing on your list of priorities. After all, who sneaks around in the shadows leaving cryptic messages for people just to try and prove a point? No, courage isn’t for you. Neither is…”
She flips the sword and strikes it towards the ground. “Benevolence! Are these words too big for your simple little head, my dear? See, that one is the disposition to do good! Well I have to admit that we’re all guilty of faltering on that one. See because you have thrown hissy fits and temper tantrums cheap shooting anyone in your way and I...well, I just want to put you down like a rabid dog. But that would go against…”
Alanah sticks the sword in the ground and kneels in front of it, her face a calm mask as her brown eyes look to the camera. “Politeness. See now this one I pride myself on. Doesn’t cost a thing to be nice to people and spread happiness! But you, you scream like a banshee and you throw people around and you act like some sort of animal. Polite isn’t even in your vocabulary is it. And I say that with…”
She stands up and leans on the sword, a soft smile gracing her lips. “Sincerity. See, I give you credit for this one, lassie. You sincerely think you’re going to take my title away from me, don’t you? Aww that’s precious. Because I sincerely believe you’re a nutter who needs to be locked away in a padded room! Because you have no…”
She cups a hand to her ear before giggling. “Self-Control! You can’t sit still for a minute can you? Your little twitches and quirks might scare some people off but honey, you’re not the only one that can lose her self-control. You’re gonna learn that first hand. And that’s when you’re going to look around and notice you’re all alone. Because you have no…”
She picks up the sword and starts gently swaying in a pattern with it. “Loyalty. Who are you loyal to, Cynthia? Who do you have that you can REALLY treasure in this world? Sure, you have a friend or two but when the battle lines are drawn and you’re staring down my world? Who’s gonna watch you die? Hmm? The answer is no one. Because the last virtue of the Bushido code…”
She suddenly whips the sword around violently before flinging it up to her face and palming her free hand against it glaring into the camera. “Honor. You have none. You never have and quite frankly, from what I’ve seen you never will. Miles Kasey was added into a title match fair and square. And he, too, beat you without a shadow of a doubt. And what did you do? You wanted to take your ball...and go home. You wanted to quit! And NOW, since you see me as some easy target, what are you gonna do when it’s one on one and you realize that you just don’t have what it takes to be a champion? Listen dearest…”
Alanah runs her hand along the sword holding outward horizontally and smiling warmly over the edge. ”Do you know what else the Bushido Code calls for? A barbaric little ceremony called seppuku. You see Cynthia, when a samurai failed his mission or disgraced his family’s name in any way, the only way he could redeem his honor...was seppuku. And now I want you to hear me because these are my last words for you before I break you in half.”
Alanah quickly turns the sword point side up and shoves the hilt of it into the ground so it stands. “When a warrior has failed time and time and time again as you have, the only way they could regain their honor was to throw themselves on their sword. Or take their sword and gut themselves in the middle of the village. It’s time for you to fall on your sword, Cynthia. I understand! That’s a scary thought and you might not be brave enough to do it! But don’t you worry, my dear…”
The smallest hint of a devilish smile appeared on her face, as she spoke the next four words.
“I will help you.”
Alanah turns on a dime and walks back towards the house as the camera ends the scene with a close up on the sword still sticking out of the ground.
