May 10 After the match
Alanah tore through the curtain at the top of the entrance ramp. Sweaty and beaming from ear to ear, she practically flew down the steps and jumped into the waiting arms of Jack and Lachlan.
“I did it! I did it!” she cried happily.
“Told ya you would!” Jack said happily as he kissed Alanah’s forehead.
“Way to go, Lanah-bean,” Lachlan said, smiling as he ruffled Alanah’s hair. She grinned and playfully batted his hand away, and then she noticed Cameron O’Neil standing near them, grinning as well.
Alanah rushed up and gave her a hug as well. “Cameron, I did it! I won my first match!”
Cameron returned her enthusiastic hug. “I know, I was watching with your brother and Jack. I knew you could do it. You made me so proud tonight, kid. Hell, I think you made the whole damn arena proud!”
Alanah smiled as her cheeks flushed pink. “I couldn’t have done it without you and Levi guiding me. You taught me everything I know.”
“We just gave you the tools. You were the one out there putting them to damn good use. You keep this up, I’m seeing gold in your very near future.” With one last hug, Cameron left the little group and wandered off down the hallway.
Jack came up behind Alanah and scooped her up in his arms, twirling her around. “I’d say this calls for a celebration, don’t you think?”
“You two go on ahead,” Lachlan said. “I’m gonna head home to Sierra and the girls.”
Alanah and Lachlan hugged one more time before he left, and then Alanah and Jack headed off to the locker room hand in hand.

May 21 Late night New York City
She had been wandering for hours now, with no idea of where she even was. Everything was unfamiliar to her, and while she knew she should probably be worried, she couldn’t find it in herself to care. She just wandered around, barely seeing where she was going.
Eventually though, she ended up in front of a large church. She thought for a moment, before climbing the stairs and pushing open the heavy wooden doors. It was fairly dark and quiet, with a few candles illuminating the aisles. Alanah slowly walked towards the centre pews, taking a seat and putting her head in her hands. She sat like that for a good long while, before hearing soft footsteps approach. She looked up to see a kindly priest looking down at her, a slightly concerned expression on his face.
“Is everything alright, miss?” he asked.
Alanah rubbed at her face tiredly, sitting back against the pew. “I’ll be fine, Father. I just needed to rest a moment.”
He nodded in understanding, and continued on down the aisle. Alanah put her head back down, but she could hear the door open behind her, and the father’s voice carried to her.
“Well, fancy meeting you here again,” she heard him say with a slight laugh.
“Hello to you too, Father Jonathan. This time, I’m here looking for someone on Earth,” Alanah heard Laura Phoenix say, and she turned her head to see the legendary wrestler at the front entrance, holding her baby son Aaron in her arms. The two women locked eyes, and Laura nodded to the priest before making her way over to Alanah and taking a seat beside her.
“How did you know I was here?” Alanah asked.
Laura shrugged slightly. “Lucky guess, I suppose. Although, this is the same church I came to when...well, it was a while ago. There’s just something about this place, I guess.” She shifted Aaron in her arms, careful not to wake him up. “Your brother is worried sick about you, you know.”
Alanah lowered her face in shame. “I know. I just...I needed to get away. With everything happening, and Jack being away, I just…” Tears started to roll down her cheeks, and she sniffled.
Laura wrapped her arm around Alanah and pulled her close to her side. “I know, sweetie. You’re a gentle soul, and it’s killing you to see your family fighting. But from what I saw on Twitter, you definitely gave everyone something to talk about.”
Alanah laughed a bit through her tears. “I’ve been putting up with it for so long, I guess I just got tired of it.”
“I don’t think tired is the word I’d use. You were downright vicious! But you had every right to be. You’re trying to focus on getting your career off the ground, and you’ve got Malachi and Levi and Lord knows who else trying to drag you into the middle of their war. If you want my advice? You keep telling them to back off, and keep your focus on your career. You’re already off to a great start, I would hate to see it go astray because of all this family drama.”
Alanah sniffled again, nodding her head slowly. “Thank you, Laura. I appreciate it.”
“Don’t even mention it. You’re family now, and we always look out for each other...Well, most of the time.”She gave Alanah a little wink as they both stood up from the pew. “Now we better get home before Nick wakes up and has a heart attack.”

Present Day Chicago, Illinois
The scene opened up at the famous Cloud Gate sculpture in the heart of Chicago, Illinois. Staring into its silver surface was Apex’s newest star, Alanah O’Connell. The young Irish girl noticed the cameraman approaching her in the reflection, and turned to greet the camera with a sunny smile.
“Well, here we are in beautiful Chicago, Illinois! This is my first time here, and I’m already loving it. It’s so full of culture and excitement, so of course Apex bringing Destiny here just makes all kinds of sense.” She gazed up towards the sky for a moment, seemingly collecting her thoughts.
“To say that I’m nervous...well, that would be a huge understatement. My second professional match ever, and it’s at a huge pay per view event with tens of thousands of people.” She laughed a bit nervously. “But that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to go out there and give everything I have. I feel like I owe it to all you amazing people, who have been nothing short of supportive and encouraging to me through my whole journey. I hope that on Sunday night, I will make you all proud of me.”
She paced a few steps in front of the sculpture. “That’s not to say I’m going to have it easy on Sunday. I’m facing Trina Roberts, who happens to be the girlfriend of the current United Champion Amelia Emery. No doubt in my mind that Trina will be a force in the ring. But as you all saw on the last Riot, I’m not exactly a slouch myself. I’m looking forward to this match, maybe more so than the fans are. I want to prove to Star and David, the fans, even my fellow competitors, that I belong here. That I’m not just the little sister of two wrestlers. I can stand on my own, and I’m going to make a name for myself. You could even say...it’s my Destiny.”
With a little giggle at her turn of phrase, Alanah waved to the camera and walked off into the crowds, the camera fading out to black.

Scene One: Off Camera
The scene opens up on Trina Roberts as she is sitting in the home she shares with her girlfriend Amelia Emery. Trina was relaxing while thinking about her career, and how everything had been going. She wasn’t very successful, only a few wins. She was starting to doubt herself a bit about being a wrestler. She hated it. In her first company, she had a friend who she was still in touch with that would give her advice. She decided to call him, making sure it wasn’t too late or early for him in Japan. She waits for him to pick up after she calls his number.
“Hello”
A groggy voice came from the other end, her friend was clearly half awake or half asleep.
“Is this Hiroki again? Dude, I am not showing you how I do the Poison Arrow.”
She laughs lightly.
“No, but you could come to the states and show me maybe. It might help me get some wins finally. Did I wake you, Jason?”
“Yes, and I had like just got to sleep like 15 minutes ago. Just a second."
There’s a light grunt heard on the other end and a little bit of rustling.
“Okay, there’s some light and a beer. Now, what’s going on?”
“Beer already? I’m sorry. I just needed to talk to someone, maybe get some much-needed support like what happened in WCG. I can’t seem to get many wins in this new place.”
“It will be one before I go back to sleep. They have some really good ones here. As for the support, I need you to answer a very important question before I give you that.”
“What question is that?”
Trina was curious.
“Have you been soft on opponents like you were before? You had started to develop that killer instinct. If you’ve stayed sharp and you’re still struggling, I can help. If you went soft, I can’t fix that.”
“I think I need to find that killer instinct again. It was kinda hard to have it when I had to face my girlfriend once already. I’m facing people I know nothing about.”
She was nervous he wouldn’t be able to help.
“Girlfriend huh? Would have been nice to know you were batting for the other team back when mine was bitching at me about giving you advice. She probably wouldn’t have shut up anyway, but it could have helped.”
He sighs slightly, then pauses for a bit, most likely taking a long drink.
“Look, stop thinking about it as facing people you don’t know anything about. Think about it as them facing someone they don’t know anything about. Think about ways you can shock them. Think about ways you can throw them off their game. If there’s one thing I learned from the douchbag, it’s that wrestling is just as much about the mental aspect as it is about the physical.”
“I was married at the time, and she still did. I rather not think about that, more so her sister is in this company too.”
She shakes her head not wanting to think about it.
“I think I can do that. It shouldn't be too hard. Maybe even grow a bit more when talking about things even. I lost that edge. Taking time off hurt me badly I would have to say.”
“Just remember this. When that bell rings, there are no such things as friendship. There’s no girlfriends or boyfriends or husbands or wives. There’s a person trying to take money out of your wallet and food off your plate. That is how you keep that edge and that’s how you win matches. I learned that lesson thanks to the ex. I went easy and it cost me a win.”
“Thank god my ex was just a sheep and wasn’t worth my time. I can remember that. I might surprise some with things I think. Get more of an edge, one they haven’t seen.”
She thinks about things.
“Thanks, Jason. How’s Japan by the way?”
“It’s good. Going on my fifth month with one Jr. heavyweight title, just lost the Jr. Heavyweight title in another company, but I did break the defenses record by three before that, and I actually co-hold some six-man titles in this other company.”
He takes another long sip from his drink.
“Plus the women over here are more… let’s say respectful than the last one I was with. Well, that last one I dated anyway.”
Trina laughs lightly.
“Full of titles like you should have been before. It was a shame you didn’t end up with a title in WCG. You were one of the best they had. You ever think about coming back?”
“I’ve thought about it, but I really like it over here. I’m making great money and making a big name for myself. It’s nice to not be in anyone’s shadow and over here I don’t have to worry about that. Plus, I wanna bump on up to heavyweight and win the top prizes.
“I think you can do it. It must be nice to not have people just look at you as the guy Shields trained. That had to not been fun at all. I know some look at me as just my girlfriend’s girl, more so with her being a champion.”
“Well, make them stop. Get that edge back and start winning.”
“Alright, I will start doing that. You always were good with advice. You need to find some young wrestler over there and mentor them.”
“If one shows me he’s worth it, I might. Until then, I’m finishing this beer and going back to sleep. Good night Trina.”
“Alright, good night Jason.”
She smiles, hanging the phone up.
Scene Two: On Camera
The scene opens as Trina is inside of her bedroom she shares with her girlfriend Amelia. She was packing for her trip to Chicago. She was thinking about her conversation with her friend Jason, as she lightly smiles. She knew he was right, along with a few other things, more so after how she won her last match. She knew she had to continue to be sneaky inside of the ring, strike when least expected. She had to truly let herself become what she needed to be. She looks down at the ring gear she had just put in her bag.
“You know sometimes you need to remember who you are meant to be, remember the true you inside of the ring. I found it once but lost it. Now I’m finding it again. With help from friends I have, love from my girlfriend, I know I can find the true me inside of the ring. Sometimes it can take a while to find it, sometimes it can take some time. I’m willing to put in that time to find it. Some others may not, but I know I am. This is something I want, and I’m not going to let anything or anyone stop me from finding my true self.”
She pauses before reaching for some more clothes.
“I know people weren’t expecting me to win against Johnny Sins, but I did. It doesn’t matter how I did, but I did. I know everyone looks down at me, thinks I am not as good as some others in the ring. I know they compare me to my girlfriend who is talented in the ring, but you know what, I’m not Amelia, I’m my own person. They need to look at me for me, not at me because of who I am dating. If people can’t understand that, I need to teach them it.”
She places the clothes in the bag while thinking.
“One reason I am bringing some of this up, more so not seeing me for me is that the person I am facing can be in the same spot as I am. Alanah has brothers in wrestling, she was trained at Levi Russow’s school. She could be seen for them or seen as something she’s not. It’s a shame some people are like that.”
She lightly shakes her head. Trina sighs softly.
“You know, it’s funny both Alanah and I got wins in kinda a sneaky way. Seems we have a few things in common. Such a shame though that one of us has to lose. See though I’m willing to do anything to win. It doesn’t matter what it is. The being sneaky was just the start. Can Alanah say that, or does she have her limits? I honestly think she has her limits, and that will be her downfall. I just wonder if she will realize it. She needs to see that I’m not like Heather Haze, she won’t be able to sneak up on me, I also won’t take the time to argue with the ref like an idiot either.”
Trina laughs lightly thinking about how Alanah had beat Heather. She knew she would make sure to not let that happen again.
“I know the Irish invited luck they say, but come, Destiny, Alanah’s luck will have run out. It’s my Destiny to find who I am in the ring. It’s my Destiny to carve my path and showcase exactly who I am. I don’t feel that I have to do it against such a nice girl like Alanah either. It’s just all part of being a wrestler. Just don’t get too upset when you realize your Destiny isn’t beating me in your second match. Don’t get too upset when you get your first loss. Learn from it and realize it’s all part of finding yourself.”
Trina lightly smiles, while putting the last of her clothes in her bag. She zips it up.
“This is my Destiny.”
Before she can say anything else, Amelia peeks her head into the room.
“Ready to go?”
Trina nods her head yes.
“Yeah, I am. Let’s go.”
Trina grabs her bag, exiting the room with Amelia leading the way. The scene fades out.
